{"id":32636,"date":"2025-07-02T13:09:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T13:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/32636\/"},"modified":"2025-07-02T13:09:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T13:09:09","slug":"nick-kyrgios-agrees-who-hell-hire-as-his-new-tennis-coach-if-naomi-osaka-wins-wimbledon-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/32636\/","title":{"rendered":"Nick Kyrgios agrees who he&#8217;ll hire as his new tennis coach if Naomi Osaka wins Wimbledon this year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>When Nick Kyrgios competes on the ATP Tour, he does so without a coach, although that may not be the case for long.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the early stages of his career, Kyrgios worked with several big names in Australian tennis, including Todd Larkham, Simon Rea, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/lleyton-hewitt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lleyton Hewitt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, between 2015 and 2017, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/nick-kyrgios\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyrgios<\/a> worked without a coach until he brought in former world number four Sebastian Grosjean for the remainder of the year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-690407960-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Nick Kyrgios in action at the 2017 French Open tournament\" class=\"wp-image-86605\" \/>Photo by Tim Clayton\/Corbis via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Kyrgios has competed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATP Tour<\/a> without a full-time coach, claiming he\u2019s \u2018too set in his ways\u2019 and that he \u2018doesn\u2019t like to listen to advice\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It had seemed unlikely that Kyrgios would ever employ a coach again until he made a deal to hire one of the biggest names in coaching, on the condition that his current client wins <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wimbledon<\/a> in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Kyrgios makes deal to hire Patrick Mouratoglou as his coach if Naomi Osaka wins Wimbledon<\/p>\n<p>During an episode of Wimbledon Unfiltered with Nick Kyrgios, the Aussie was asked why he had never worked with coaching legend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/patrick-mouratoglou\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patrick Mouratoglou<\/a>, who joined him in the studio.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t want to put him through that chaos, it\u2019s too inconsistent,\u201d said Kyrgios.<\/p>\n<p>Mouratoglou shared his thoughts on Kyrgios, discussing the challenges that coaches face.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he is the most incredible player to coach, because he can do anything with the ball, the possibilities are unlimited,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s very difficult to coach, and he knows it. But that makes it very challenging and great.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like him, which is very important. You have to like the person already, otherwise it\u2019s difficult, but it\u2019s not enough. You need to connect with the person, and the person needs to want also to connect with you, and then you can go through challenges together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are always challenges, always surprises. Our job as tennis coaches is to solve problems. There are always problems to solve; the more problems you solve, the more your player progresses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After hearing Mouratoglou talk, Kyrgios made the Frenchman an interesting deal.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2210718748-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Nick Kyrgios interviewed during the ESPN on Disney+ launch party\" class=\"wp-image-107320\" \/>Photo by Don Arnold\/WireImage<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll make a deal, if you and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/naomi-osaka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naomi [Osaka]<\/a> win Wimbledon, I\u2019ll hire you as my coach,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReally?\u201d asked Mouratoglou as the pair shook hands on the deal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/tennis-fans-react-after-naomi-osaka-decides-to-hire-patrick-mouratoglou-as-her-new-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mouratoglou joined Osaka\u2019s team<\/a> at the end of the 2024 season and guided her to the third round of January\u2019s Australian Open before she lost in the first round of the French Open.<\/p>\n<p>The 55-year-old is best known for his time with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/serena-williams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serena Williams<\/a>, as the pair won ten Grand Slam titles together.<\/p>\n<p>Kyrgios and Osaka have grown close over recent years, and the former was seen in her box during the Japanese star\u2019s first-round win at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>During her post-match press conference, Osaka was \u2019embarrassed\u2019 when she found out Kyrgios was in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh he was there? I didn\u2019t hear nothing. Okay,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a little embarrassing that he was there. But yeah, I guess it was cool that he was there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am glad he came to my match. I hope in some way, maybe he felt.. I wouldn\u2019t be bold enough to say \u2018inspired,\u2019 but I hope he can relate a little bit to the things I do, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pair will also compete together at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/us-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US Open<\/a> later this year, in the revamped mixed doubles tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell if both players will work with Mouratoglou at Flushing Meadows, as Kyrgios waits to see if Osaka can win her first Wimbledon title in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Does Naomi Osaka have a chance to win Wimbledon in 2025?<\/p>\n<p>Kyrgios has a deal with Mouratoglou to hire him as his coach if Osaka wins Wimbledon, but how likely is that to happen?<\/p>\n<p>In all honesty?
