{"id":326712,"date":"2025-10-23T14:48:52","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T14:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/326712\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T14:48:52","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T14:48:52","slug":"stop-counting-doubled-up-kids-as-homeless-for-shock-value","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/326712\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop counting &#8216;doubled-up&#8217; kids as homeless for shock value"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alarming reports that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/20\/us-news\/154k-nyc-public-school-kids-are-homeless-grim-data-reveals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">154,000 New York City public-school students<\/a> are \u201chomeless\u201d rely on a dubious definition used in no other context. <\/p>\n<p>Per the city <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/06\/us-news\/judge-blocks-nyc-from-opening-insane-homeless-shelter-5-feet-from-manhattan-grade-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Homeless Services<\/a>, fewer than 31,000 children now live in the shelter system.
