From November 3 through 23, the city will once again become the capital of curds and whey for <a href=\"https:\/\/cheeseandwineweek.com\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">New York Cheese Week<\/a>, a three-week celebration of all things gooey, melty and delicious.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its seventh year, the festival (officially known as New York Cheese and Wine Week) brings together more than 15 complimentary tastings and 18 restaurants\u2014including a few Michelin-starred heavyweights\u2014for citywide events pairing cheese, wine and culinary artistry. Think of it as a progressive dinner party that stretches from Midtown to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/news\/murrays-cheese-is-stretching-a-massive-mozzarella-ball-for-national-cheese-day-052325\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Murray\u2019s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s culinary ambassador is none other than Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who\u2019s bringing his signature finesse to the table. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very happy to be an ambassador this year,\u201d said Vongerichten. His restaurants\u2014Nougatine, ABC Kitchen and Four Twenty Five\u2014will spotlight exquisite cheese-centric menus, including a 12-month Entremont Comt\u00e9 cheese souffl\u00e9 served with a glass of Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Blanc for $48.<\/p>\n<p>The brain behind the festival, Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Hesse, first launched Cheese Week in France back in 2016 before bringing the dairy-driven celebration stateside. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I created this event in France, I thought that no one would be interested in learning about cheese\u2014I was wrong!\u201d Hesse said. Clearly\u2014because New Yorkers have since embraced it with open arms and empty plates.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights this year include a De Gustibus Tasting School masterclass at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/shopping\/macys-herald-square-midtown-west-ny\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Macy\u2019s Herald Square<\/a> on November 1, hosted by wine personality Anthony Giglio and Chef Claude Godard; a free Jarlsberg tasting at Murray\u2019s Cheese on Broadway (November 21); and Entremont demos at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/shopping\/zabars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zabar\u2019s<\/a> (November 7 and 21). At O\u2019Cabanon in Midtown, diners can indulge in a croque monsieur made with Emmental Entremont or a juicy Jarlsberg-topped burger.<\/p>\n<p>The lineup is supported by Entremont and Jarlsberg, two European brands revered for their Alpine Emmental, nutty Gruy\u00e8re and hole-speckled Norwegian classics.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re a bona fide turophile or just cheese-curious, this is your chance to nibble your way through the city one rind at a time. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"New Yorkers, prepare to get a little extra cheesy.
