[Photo: Avride\/Medium]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Austin-based Avride has been \u201cramping up\u201d testing of its self-driving vehicles in Dallas\u2014which is slated to be the first city to host Avride and Uber\u2019s robotaxi service later this year. And Avride got a big boost Wednesday when it announced a new $375 million investment and \u201ccommercial commitments\u201d from Uber Technologies and the Amsterdam-based Nebius Group, amid the runup to the Dallas launch.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The investment builds on Avride\u2019s existing partnership with Uber, after the companies signed a multi-year strategic agreement in 2024. As Dallas Innovates reported last October, the two companies have launched an <a href=\"https:\/\/dallasinnovates.com\/uber-and-avride-partner-to-offer-robotaxis-and-robot-meal-deliveries-in-dallas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uber Eats sidewalk robot delivery service<\/a> in Dallas using Avride\u2019s autonomous delivery robots, in addition to the soon-to-launch robotaxi service. (The companies\u2019 Uber Eats robot deliveries are also now underway in Austin and Jersey City, New Jersey, making \u201ctens of thousands of deliveries\u201d in total to date.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Avride said the new funding will enable it to accelerate the growth of its fleet, support AI-driven product development, and expand its offering into new geographies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-281025\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Avride_Robotaxi_Uber1-970.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"970\" height=\"647\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-281025\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Branding on an Avride robotaxi on an electric Hyundai IONIQ 5 platform. [Photo: Avride\/Medium]<\/p>\n<p>Avride\u2019s IONIQ 5 robotaxis spotted in downtown Dallas<\/p>\n<p>As we reported in March, Avride is <a href=\"https:\/\/dallasinnovates.com\/robotaxi-rollout-avride-hyundai-to-partner-on-self-driving-uber-rides-in-dallas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">partnering with Hyundai Motor Company<\/a> to jointly develop and operate vehicles capable of \u201cfully autonomous driving.\u201d The collaboration is putting Avride\u2019s self-driving tech in Hyundai\u2019s electric IONIQ 5 SUV, paving the way for \u201cfuture mobility solutions, such as robotaxis and autonomous delivery services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The autonomous Hyundai IONIQ 5 vehicles\u2014wrapped in Avride\u2019s lavender branding and sporting Uber logos\u2014have become a regular sight in downtown Dallas and in nearby neighborhoods, as the partners fine-tune the robotaxis for the late-2025 public ride-hailing launch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Avride, we can\u2019t wait to bring our robotaxi service to Dallas,\u201d CEO Dmitry Polishchuk said in a statement last month. \u201cWith our autonomous delivery robots already trusted by customers on Uber Eats, we\u2019re excited to expand that experience to passenger rides on Uber, bringing scalable autonomy to urban mobility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"9ad1\" class=\"pw-post-body-paragraph ov ow iz ox b oy pa pb pc pe pf ha ph pi hd pk pl hg pn po we pp ia bl\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">Sarfraz Maredia, head of autonomous mobility &amp; delivery at Uber, said Uber riders will soon have \u201ca new way to move around the city, marking another step toward making autonomous transportation part of everyday life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More on the $375M investment<\/p>\n<p>Addressing Uber\u2019s participation in the $375 million Avride investment, Maredia said in a statement that his company is \u201cexcited to continue deepening our partnership with Avride and look forward to introducing their impressive autonomous driving technologies to more people in more markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arkady Volozh, founder and CEO of Nebius Group, said Nebius \u201cis delighted to welcome Uber as a strategic investor that shares Avride\u2019s vision and will enable the company to move further and faster in pioneering AI-driven autonomous transportation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Avride, we have a clear vision and a strong plan to make autonomous transportation an integral part of everyday life,\u201d Polishchuk added. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to have world-class partners like Uber who share this vision and continue to support us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waymo and Lyft planning Dallas robotaxi launches in 2026<\/p>\n<p>Avride and Uber\u2019s robotaxis may not be the only self-driving service in town for long.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In July, <a href=\"https:\/\/dallasinnovates.com\/waymo-to-launch-robotaxi-service-in-dallas-next-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Waymo announced its own plans<\/a> to launch a robotaxi service in Dallas in 2026\u2014with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2025\/07\/29\/waymo-announces-expansion-in-dallas-partners-with-avis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> noting that Waymo had begun testing on the city\u2019s streets.<\/p>\n<p>And last February, Lyft, the San Francisco-based ride-sharing giant, <a href=\"https:\/\/dallasinnovates.com\/lyft-is-launching-a-robotaxi-service-in-dallas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced plans<\/a> to roll out a robotaxi service in Dallas \u201cas soon as 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t miss what\u2019s next.
