Reba McEntire will be rockin\u2019 around the Christmas tree.<\/p>\n
The country music icon has been announced as this year\u2019s host of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree<\/a> lighting in New York City.<\/p>\n The \u201cChristmas in Rockefeller Center\u201d two-hour special will air on NBC and Peacock<\/a> on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n \u201cTo see all the Christmas decorations and to get to be a part of the tree lighting ceremony, Rockefeller Center, it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,\u201d McEntire told PEOPLE<\/a>, \u201cand I’m honored that they asked me to do it.”<\/p>\n The 70-year-old McEntire — a three-time Grammy winner who currently stars on NBC\u2019s \u201cThe Voice\u201d and \u201cHappy Place\u2019s\u201d — will also perform during the festivities. She\u2019ll be joined by an all-star lineup of musical guests that will soon be announced.<\/p>\n \u201cReba is about to light up your holiday season,\u201d a joint social media post<\/a> by NBC and McEntire said, with a video of the singer holding Christmas lights.<\/p>\n McEntire said it will be her first time in New York during the most wonderful time of the year.<\/p>\n “I’m really excited to get to go to New York City in December,\u201d McEntire told PEOPLE<\/a>. \u201cI’ve never been there in December.\u201d<\/p>\n She plans to bundle up for the occasion.<\/p>\n “I’m going to triple, quadruple layer,\u201d she added. \u201cI’ll probably have my heated vest on, and all the clothes I can, insulated underwear.\u201d<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
