Last week, the Chargers trailed the Colts 23-3 at halftime and never could recover in a 38-24 loss.<\/p>\n
It’s safe to say this is a bit of a better start. Los Angeles scored touchdowns on its first two drives and leads the Minnesota 21-3 at halftime.<\/p>\n
It was nearly a very different story, though. Isaiah Rodgers appeared to pick off Justin Herbert’s first pass of the night and return it for a touchdown, but the play was overturned, with referee Clete Blakeman determining the ball hit the ground without Rodgers’ control.<\/p>\n
Herbert took immediate advantage, ripping a 17-yard pass to Keenan Allen to convert third and 13. Eleven plays later, Herbert found Oronde Gadsden II for a touchdown.<\/p>\n
After a quick Minnesota three and out, the Chargers went right down the field again, with Kimani Vidal powering in from 3 yards out.<\/p>\n
The Vikings got on the board via a Will Reichard field goal, but otherwise there’s been very little positive momentum for the offense. Carson Wentz, wearing a sizable brace on his left shoulder, showed some clear discomfort on a throw late in the half, and that will bear watching.<\/p>\n
Also worth watching: Can the Vikings defense figure it out? Herbert capped a brilliant two-minute drive with a 27-yard touchdown to Ladd McConkey. In fitting fashion, Reichard came up short on a 53-yard field goal attempt to end the half.<\/p>\n
