{"id":328790,"date":"2025-10-24T09:35:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T09:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/328790\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T09:35:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T09:35:10","slug":"dakota-johnson-reveals-scary-childhood-in-spotlight-as-melanie-griffith-and-don-johnsons-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/328790\/","title":{"rendered":"Dakota Johnson reveals &#8216;scary&#8217; childhood in spotlight as Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson&#8217;s daughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Growing up with famous parents,\u00a0Melanie Griffith, Don Johnson and stepfather Antonio Banderas, left an indelible mark on Dakota Johnson \u2014 sometimes for the better and sometimes not.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think I ever truly realized what Hollywood was, but I grew up on set and was always surrounded by people who made movies,\u201d Johnson told\u00a0Vogue Germany\u00a0for its November cover story. \u201cI mean, I was born in Texas because my father filmed there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0\u201cFifty Shades of Grey\u201d\u00a0actress said she always knew her family\u2019s profession was different from her classmates whose moms and dads went to an office each day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was a challenge because it\u2019s hard to make and keep friends when you\u2019re on the road so much as a kid,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I always just accepted it: This is what we do. It\u2019s in our blood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Because of that influence, Johnson said she wanted to be an actress since she was a kid\u00a0and \u201cbe a part of what the people around me were doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a child, I was obsessed with movies,\u201d she told Vogue. \u201cI was the kid who watched the same thing over and over again for a year. Getty Images for ZFF<\/p>\n<p>Johnson\u2019s parents, however, didn\u2019t allow her to act as a child until she graduated from high school, with the exception of a small role with her mother in the 1999 film \u201cCrazy in Alabama.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite all the positive exposure to a creative industry, having famous parents could be unsettling as a child.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was little, there were times when it was really quite scary, and people would aggressively and physically try to get to my mom when we were just going to the supermarket or something,\u201d she said, adding, \u201cIf you accept that as normal as a little kid, it can lead to a lot of complexes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Melanie Griffith, Dakota Johnson, and Don Johnson attend the after party for the New York premiere of \u201cHow To Be Single\u201d at the Bowery Hotel on February 3, 2016 in New York City. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cAnd then, of course, the fact that you\u2019re in the public eye and the world knows about your private life in a way that\u2019s very invasive, rude, and painful. So, yes, there are downsides, but there are also incredible upsides\u2014like with everything, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Griffith, who is best known for 1988\u2019s \u201cWorking Girl,\u201d married\u00a0Don Johnson, of \u201cMiami Vice\u201d fame in 1976, which lasted six months. They married a second time in 1989, shortly before Dakota was born, and divorced in 1996.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Griffith married Banderas in 1996, and they divorced in 2015.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dakota Johnson has never been married.
