Donald Trump<\/a> on Thursday drew ire for what critics called a \u201csnide\u201d and \u201crude\u201d remark to a reporter whose accent he said he didn\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n

Trump first asked the reporter to repeat her question \u201clouder.\u201d<\/p>\n

She wanted to know whether he saw the Israeli parliament\u2019s symbolic vote to apply its laws in the West Bank \u201cas a challenge to your peace efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump still didn\u2019t understand, so he turned to Attorney General Pam Bondi for help and asked: \u201cWill you answer that, please? Because I cannot understand a word she\u2019s saying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump then asked the reporter, \u201cWhere are you from? Where are you from?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m from France,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re from France,\u201d Trump said. \u201cBeautiful accent, but we can\u2019t understand what you\u2019re saying.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Bondi relayed the question to Trump, he finally responded:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe West Bank? Don\u2019t worry about the West Bank. Israel\u2019s not gonna do anything with the West Bank, OK? Don\u2019t worry about it. Is that your question? They\u2019re not gonna do anything with the West Bank. Don\u2019t worry about it. Israel\u2019s doing very well. They\u2019re not gonna do anything with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump pulled a similar move in February<\/a> when he praised a journalist from Afghanistan for having a \u201cbeautiful accent,\u201d but then said he didn\u2019t understand her. He didn\u2019t answer her question, though, instead ending the exchange with: \u201cGood luck, live in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n
