The business’ online ordering system has been scrubbed from the web, and the listed number immediately transfers to a full voice mailbox. The Facebook open status was changed approximately two weeks ago.

Poki Bowl opened its first restaurant in San Jose, California, in 2015 at the height of the mid-2010s poke craze. The San Antonio outpost arrived a little late to the trend, debuting in September 2022.

Like similar franchises, the fast-casual spot followed a build-your-own-bowl model, offering protein options like ahi tuna, yellowtail, shrimp, and salmon dressed with sriracha, miso, or a spicy house dressing. Compared to many of its contemporaries, it offered fewer toppings, but guests could build a bowl on taro chips.

The Alamo City location opted out of the colorful macaron ice cream sandwiches served at many of its sibling restaurants, instead selling premade ice cream cookies from Boerne’s Blithe Creamery.

In April, local entrepreneurs Christopher Matz and Carl Bishop announced they were taking over the franchise, framing the move as a relaunch. The Potranco Road storefront was the only Texas arm of the Californian chain, which primarily operates in the Bay Area.

Requests for a comment were not returned by publication time.
