to move one step closer to ATP Finals qualification at the Swiss Indoors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Defeating Gabriel Diallo and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/marin-cilic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marin Cilic<\/a>, the Canadian advanced to the quarterfinals in Basel.<\/p>\n<p>There, he met Spain\u2019s Jaume Munar, who stunned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/ben-shelton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Shelton<\/a> in his previous match.<\/p>\n<p>Auger-Aliassime struggled early on against Munar and dropped the first set to the Spaniard 6-3.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/felix-auger-aliassime\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Auger-Aliassime<\/a> offered his hand to the world number 42 and retired from the match.<\/p>\n<p>Exiting the competition at the quarterfinal stage, Auger-Aliassime\u2019s chances of reaching the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp-finals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP Finals<\/a> in Turin took a big hit.<\/p>\n<p>Felix Auger-Aliassime leaves himself with a lot of work to do in Paris<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian number one sits ninth in the \u2018Live ATP Race to Turin\u2019, 380 points off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/lorenzo-musetti\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lorenzo Musetti<\/a>, who currently occupies the final qualification could yet widen, with Musetti still alive in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/vienna-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vienna Open<\/a> draw.<\/p>\n<p>Not only does Auger-Aliassime have a mountain to climb in the Race, but he now also has an injury to contend with.<\/p>\n<p>Sky Sports commentary believes the Canadian retired due to a back injury in Basel, although it is unclear how long it will take him to recover.<\/p>\n<p>Should he be fit to play in Paris, he will need a deep run to keep his ATP Finals hopes alive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"
