Weekend closures planned for I-17 in north Phoenix<\/p>\n
ADOT said that portions of both directions of I-17 will close over the weekend due to a pavement sealing project. However, the closures will be on separate nights.<\/p>\n
Southbound I-17 is scheduled to be closed between Jomax and Deer Valley roads overnight from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
The northbound lanes of the freeway are scheduled to be closed between the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway and Jomax Road from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n
During the closure of the southbound lanes, motorists will exit I-17 at Jomax Road. They will then be detoured to 19th Avenue, where they can go south to Deer Valley Road and then west to reconnect with I-17.<\/p>\n
During the closure of the northbound lanes, motorists will exit I-17 using the Rose Garden Lane\/Deer Valley Road off-ramp. They will be detoured to 19th Avenue, where they can go north to Jomax Road and then west to reconnect with the freeway.<\/p>\n
ADOT added that ramps from Loop 101 to I-17 will be closed overnight from Saturday to Sunday, as well.<\/p>\n
The department said this project is expected to cause heavy traffic and delays, so drivers should plan to avoid the area.<\/p>\n
Weekend closures planned for I-10 in the West Valley<\/p>\n
In the West Valley, a 5-mile stretch of I-10 will see both directions close on separate nights due to a pavement marking project.<\/p>\n
Eastbound I-10 is scheduled to be closed between Avondale Boulevard and 75th Avenue overnight from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
The westbound lanes of the freeway are scheduled to be closed in the same area overnight from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n
During the closure of the eastbound lanes, the following two ramps are also scheduled to be closed:<\/p>\n
\n
- The ramp from the southbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway to eastbound I-10 in Tolleson.<\/li>\n
- The on-ramp to eastbound I-10 at Fairway Drive in Avondale.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
During the closure of the westbound lanes, the following three ramps are also scheduled to be closed:<\/p>\n
\n
- The ramp from the northbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway to westbound I-10 in Phoenix.<\/li>\n
- The ramp from the southbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway to westbound I-10 in Tolleson.<\/li>\n
- The on-ramp to westbound I-10 at 67th Avenue in Phoenix.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
On both nights, ADOT said drivers can use McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to avoid the closures.<\/p>\n
The department said motorists should also expect the southbound lanes of Loop 101 to be restricted between Camelback Road and I-10 during the closures.<\/p>\n
Other areas that could cause traffic issues over the weekend<\/p>\n
ADOT also warned drivers about a freeway restriction in the West Valley and a ramp closure in the East Valley that will be in place over the weekend.<\/p>\n
From 9 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday, the northbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway will be narrowed to two lanes between I-10 and Bell Road in the West Valley. This is due to pavement sealing.<\/p>\n
ADOT said drivers should plan for their trips to take longer than expected and that ramps in the area could be closed at times.<\/p>\n
In the East Valley, the primary ramp from the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway to westbound I-10 in Chandler will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday due to pavement maintenance.<\/p>\n
However, the ramp from the westbound Loop 202 HOV lane to westbound I-10 will remain open.<\/p>\n
