The lawsuit alleged Lau had provided gender transition treatments \u2014 such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy \u2014 to 21 minor patients. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Paxton further alleged that Lau had falsified the medical records for those patients to misrepresent the purpose of the prescriptions. Months later, Paxton\u2019s office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/09\/11\/texas-attorney-general-ken-paxton-transgender-care-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/09\/11\/texas-attorney-general-ken-paxton-transgender-care-lawsuit\/\">withdrew its lawsuit against the El Paso doctor<\/a> and said that \u201cno legal violations were found\u201d in that case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The attorney general\u2019s office said at the time that the cases against the two Dallas doctors were ongoing. In the Friday morning release announcing Lau\u2019s license surrender, Paxton\u2019s office reiterated that the legal case against her will continue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In the suits and related media releases, Paxton has described the three doctors as activists who harmed children.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In contrast,<b> <\/b>LGBTQ+ and civil rights organizations have argued that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/press-releases\/texas-families-and-medical-providers-sue-texas-to-block-dangerous-transgender-youth-medical-care-ban\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/press-releases\/texas-families-and-medical-providers-sue-texas-to-block-dangerous-transgender-youth-medical-care-ban\">the gender-affirming care ban<\/a> and its enforcement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclutx.org\/en\/press-releases\/aclu-texas-and-partners-respond-texas-supreme-court-allowing-sb-14-take-effect\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.aclutx.org\/en\/press-releases\/aclu-texas-and-partners-respond-texas-supreme-court-allowing-sb-14-take-effect\">are harming trans youth<\/a>. Many medical providers and associations have similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ama-assn.org\/press-center\/press-releases\/ama-reinforces-opposition-restrictions-transgender-medical-care\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ama-assn.org\/press-center\/press-releases\/ama-reinforces-opposition-restrictions-transgender-medical-care\">opposed bans<\/a> on gender-affirming care. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/publications.aap.org\/pediatrics\/article\/142\/4\/e20182162\/37381\/Ensuring-Comprehensive-Care-and-Support-for?autologincheck=redirected\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/publications.aap.org\/pediatrics\/article\/142\/4\/e20182162\/37381\/Ensuring-Comprehensive-Care-and-Support-for?autologincheck=redirected\">Medical standards<\/a> do not typically recommend the full scope of gender-affirming care, such as surgical procedures, for minors.
