Ahead of the Lakers\u2019 matchup with the Timberwolves on Prime Video, Mavericks<\/a> legend Dirk Nowitzki conducted his first sit-down interview in his new broadcasting role<\/a> with none other than Luka Doncic.<\/p>\n

Nowitzki asked Doncic about the stunning trade that sent him from Dallas to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy where I am, but like I say, it\u2019s always going to be special,\u201d Doncic said of Dallas. \u201cI basically grew up in America, it was my home for seven-and-a-half years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nowitzki then told Doncic something that most Mavericks fans would probably echo.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the fans felt the same way and, of course, miss you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

One of the biggest storylines surrounding Doncic entering his first full season with the Lakers was his conditioning and his new efforts to improve that aspect of his game<\/a>. Doncic admitted that his desire to change in that respect began during the Mavericks\u2019 run to the NBA Finals.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt kind of started in that Finals run,\u201d he said. \u201cI felt like I was missing a little bit. Obviously, last season was hard for me, I had a lot of things going on. I\u2019m 26 years old, I\u2019ve got a long way ahead of me, so it just kind of started there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nowitzki admitted at the end of segment that being on the other side of interviews like that is a new challenge and he was nervous for the interview with Doncic.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was okay, so-so, he needs some work,\u201d Doncic joked when asked how Nowitzki did in his first sit-down. \u201cFor his first time, he was very good.\u201d<\/p>\n
