NBA Legend Derrick Rose<\/a> will be the grand marshal for the 2025 Chicago Street Race<\/a>, the Grant Park 165. And the retired basketball star is particularly excited to be a part of his hometown event. Fans have also already fallen in love with the Chicago Street Race in just two years.<\/p>\n

Julie Giese, the race president, said: \u201cChicago is one of the best sports towns and Derrick is a beloved figure here. We\u2019re thrilled to have him start NASCAR\u2019s only street race.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NASCAR Chicago Street Race debuted in 2023 and was the first Cup Series street race. Held in downtown Chicago\u2019s Grant Park, it has since then become a must-see race in the NASCAR season. With huge crowds coming to experience racing like never before. All of it surrounded by the city skyline.<\/p>\n

Rose is a Chicago legend. After being the star of the local high school scene, he was drafted number one overall by the Bulls in 2008. Over seven seasons, he was a three-time All-Star and won MVP in 2011 which made him one of the all-time greats here.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be part of such an incredible event in my hometown,\u201d said Rose to NASCAR.com<\/a>. \u201cChicago has always supported me throughout my career. And I\u2019m excited to give back to the fans and be part of this amazing racing weekend in Grant Park.\u201d<\/p>\n

After his Bulls run Rose played for a few other teams before retiring in September 2024. The Bulls are going to retire his No.1<\/a> jersey during the 2025-26 season, a well-deserved honor for what he did on and off the court.<\/p>\n

Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said it best. \u201cDerrick isn\u2019t just a player; he\u2019s a symbol of an era and a hometown hero. Retiring his jersey is about honoring that deep connection he built with Chicago fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NASCAR Chicago Street Race is a big deal for the city and a chance to show off Chicago\u2019s culture and racing. With Derrick Rose as Grand Marshal, 2025 is going to be another great one.<\/p>\n
