{"id":330921,"date":"2025-10-25T06:11:18","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T06:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/330921\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T06:11:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T06:11:18","slug":"idaho-hospital-association-honors-dr-kenneth-krell-with-excellence-in-medicine-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/330921\/","title":{"rendered":"Idaho Hospital Association Honors Dr. Kenneth Krell with Excellence in Medicine Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>IDAHO FALLS \u2013 The Idaho Hospital Association (IHA) recently honored Dr. Kenneth Krell, a distinguished ICU physician from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC), with the Excellence in Medicine Award.<\/p>\n<p>Krell received the award at this year\u2019s IHA Annual Convention on Oct. 7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKrell was selected to recognize his extraordinary dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to his patients and community,\u201d according to a statement released on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Krell began working at EIRMC in 1982, first as an ICU physician and, more recently, as the Program Director of EIRMC\u2019s Internal Medicine Residency. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis courageous leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic included chairing EIRMC\u2019s crisis committee, advising the regional Health Department, serving on Idaho\u2019s SIDMAC committee, and providing calm, expert public guidance through testimony and media,\u201d today\u2019s statement read.<\/p>\n<p>ICU Director and close colleague, Kristi Caldera, RN, praised Krell\u2019s tireless work during those years, when he was often the first in and the last out, supporting patients, staff and families alike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve known of Dr. Krell\u2019s reputation as a distinguished ICU physician for years,\u201d said Brian Whitlock, President\/CEO of the Idaho Hospital Association. \u201cI\u2019ve also had the privilege of watching him step outside the walls of the ICU to take a leadership role in ensuring all Idahoans have access to care. His leadership through the pandemic was nothing short of heroic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Krell has displayed \u201ca remarkable commitment to service throughout his entire career. He is known in his community for his compassion, brilliance at the bedside, and unwavering integrity,\u201d according to today\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hear frequently from patients and providers alike how greatly his clinical presence is missed, even as he continues to serve in new ways,\u201d said Patricia Howell, EIRMC\u2019s chief medical officer.<\/p>\n<p>Though he \u201cretired\u201d from ICU care, Krell found renewed purpose in Graduate Medical Education, dedicating himself to training residents not only to be knowledgeable but to be exceptional clinicians.<\/p>\n<p>His passion for teaching has deeply shaped the EIRMC residency program and, in turn, the future of medicine in Idaho.
