{"id":331057,"date":"2025-10-25T07:35:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T07:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/331057\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T07:35:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T07:35:10","slug":"from-pop-star-to-educator-glenn-medeiros-reflects-on-life-changes-in-new-memoir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/331057\/","title":{"rendered":"From pop star to educator, Glenn Medeiros reflects on life changes in new memoir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) &#8211; Glenn Medeiros is currently president of Saint Louis School, one of Hawaii\u2019s most prestigious private schools.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">But back in the 1980s, he was an international pop music sensation and household name with his hit song, \u201cNothing\u2019s Gonna Change My Love for You,\u201d topping the music charts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After the lights dimmed on his singing career, he turned to the education field. That transition is the focus of his new memoir, \u201cOne Stage to Another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s a play on words, you know, stages in life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Medeiros took pen to paper to share the lessons he learned along the way with hopes that readers will learn from his experiences, both good and bad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve had an unusual life in that I grew up on the little island of Kauai and from the age of 15 to 20, traveled to about 40 countries, singing, performing, then, of course, coming back home, getting my doctorate degree and then becoming a leader,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In his memoir, Medeiros shares a lot about his rise to stardom after winning Hawaii\u2019s number-one talent show in the \u201980s, \u201cBrown Bags to Stardom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Adoring fans around the world flocked to hear and see this island boy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI remember performing one night in Spain, at a concert and there was 5,000 to 10,000 people kind of waving the lights and I just thought, gosh, this is always what I dreamed of. It was a nice feeling to experience that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">While \u201cNothing\u2019s Gonna Change My Love for You\u201d will always be remembered as his signature song, it peaked at #12 on Billboard\u2019s Hot 100 chart. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It was another song, \u201cShe Ain\u2019t Worth It,\u201d a duet with Bobby Brown, that landed him his first number-one hit in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cBobby was going through a lot in his life at the time and one of the things I mention in the book is that he had his struggles, but when you get to know him, the way I got to know him, he\u2019s a very nice guy,\u201d said Medeiros.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In keeping on the theme of his current stage in life, Medeiros is primarily focused on ensuring qualify education at Saint Louis School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He combines what he knows as a former pop star with solid advice as an educator especially when approached by students who are aspiring singers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhat I tell people that, try, to put education first,\u201d he said. \u201cFollow your dream, yes, but I think it\u2019s important to have a good plan B, and I do think that to expand your mind, so that you can grow as an artist, it\u2019s really good to go to college.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Medeiros is also a family man, happily married to his wife, Tammy, and the father of son, Chord, and daughter, Lyric.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He credits his mom, dad, and ohana for his success.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cMy parents, very lucky to have great parents, and we did not have a lot growing up, but what they did emphasize for us was not matter what you want, put your faith in God. Be a good person.
