Cold Noses, The Florida Times-Union<\/a>‘s weekly pet column, features dogs and cats available for adoption at area government-run animal shelters.<\/p>\n

Multiple Northeast Florida animals shelters and rescue organizations will take part in a Pet Adoption Festival\u00a0at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-26, at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, 1000 Water St. in Jacksonville. Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens\u00a0will be available with adoption fees waived. Parking is free.<\/p>\n

Snorty<\/strong> is a 2\u00bd-year-old, 56-pound male mixed-breed dog (ID No. 57979901). He is smart and polite. He walks well on a leash and knows sit\u00a0and stay\u00a0commands. He is ready to enjoy the warmth of a real home but would do best in a home without cats.<\/p>\n

Dove<\/strong> is a 4-year-old female domestic medium-hair cat (ID No. 80861). She is sweet, smart, loving and gentle. She gets along with children and dogs, but is fearful of other cats. She prefers a calm environment where she can receive the attention she deserves.<\/p>\n
