A long-range planning committee and citizens bond advisory committee were tabled to be discussed in November.

The details

The committees will be fact-finding, deliberative, advisory and will not assume administrative duties or responsibilities, according to district documents. Board trustees shared concerns about underrepresentation for some areas of the district for the two committees.

“When we have some of these committees that are going to be helping navigate the future of the district and perhaps opportunities to fix infrastructure, I’m just a little concerned that we don’t have that cross-section that we were hoping to look for across the district,” Place 6 trustee Charles Randklev said.

KISD Superintendent Cory Wilson said the district would create a longer window in future years in an effort to even out representation.

The background

The district approved the creation of seven committees for the 2025-26 school year Aug. 28, according to district documents.
