\n\tAs the discourse around AI<\/a> in Hollywood continues to intensify, Guillermo del Toro<\/a> is planting his feet in opposition of the filmmaking fad.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 3x Oscar winner recently said he would \u201crather die\u201d than use generative AI<\/a> in his films, comparing the technology to the \u201carrogance\u201d of Oscar Isaac<\/a>\u2018s titular mad scientist in his Netflix<\/a> adaptation of Mary Shelley\u2019s Frankenstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAI, particularly generative AI \u2014 I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested,\u201d he said in an interview with NPR<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. \u2026 The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, \u2018What is your stance on AI?\u2019 And my answer was very short. I said, \u2018I\u2019d rather die.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDel Toro explained that his \u201cconcern is not artificial intelligence, but natural stupidity,\u201d adding: \u201cI think that\u2019s what drives most of the world\u2019s worst features.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Frankenstein writer\/director noted that he related his adaptation of the eponymous role \u201cin some ways to the tech bros. He\u2019s kind of blind, creating something without considering the consequences and I think we have to take a pause and consider where we\u2019re going.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDel Toro\u2019s latest interview comes after he previously declared \u201cfuck AI!<\/a>\u201d during a screening of Frankenstein last week in New York City.<\/p>\n
