{"id":33331,"date":"2025-07-02T19:10:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T19:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/33331\/"},"modified":"2025-07-02T19:10:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T19:10:14","slug":"meet-some-of-the-community-ambassadors-selected-ahead-of-inaugural-san-antonio-marathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/33331\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet some of the community ambassadors selected ahead of inaugural San Antonio Marathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 We are just five months out until the inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/satxmarathon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/satxmarathon\/\">San Antonio Marathon<\/a>, and to help build momentum and encourage participation, San Antonio Sports has selected 24 local runners to serve as marathon ambassadors. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The individuals will promote the race, inspire others and share their personal journeys leading up to the big event in December.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe definitely exceeded our expectations,\u201d said Sara Tovar with San Antonio Sports. \u201cWe had close to 300 people apply. Our selection committee had quite a hard time narrowing it down, but we really looked for people who embodied the story of the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">With the tagline, \u201cWhere every step tells a story,\u201d the San Antonio Marathon is shaping up to be more than just a race \u2014 it\u2019s a platform to showcase the diverse experience levels and the resilience of local runners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Among the selected ambassadors is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/rozkruns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/rozkruns\/\">Roz Kosacz<\/a>, a dedicated runner and ovarian cancer survivor. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Kosacz began running during the COVID-19 pandemic and continued even after receiving her cancer diagnosis in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cBeing a runner and knowing my body helped me realize something was wrong. It got me to the doctor much quicker,\u201d Kosacz said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Kosacz now uses her platform to encourage others to begin their fitness journeys at their own pace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cYou don\u2019t have to go from zero to 60. Take baby steps,\u201d she said. \u201cWith consistency, you\u2019ll be running a 5K or a half marathon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Another ambassador, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/santino.corrales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/santino.corrales\/\">Santino Corrales<\/a>, is a long-time member and leader of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/downtownrungroup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/downtownrungroup\/\">Downtown Run Group<\/a>, one of the city\u2019s most active running communities. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI started in 2012, training with Bo Brockman and Pat Brockman, the founders of the group,\u201d Corrales said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">What started as a small crew of 20 runners has grown to nearly 300 people meeting every Saturday at the Pearl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cEverybody has a story.
