SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 The Bexar County Constable\u2019s Office Precinct 1 said a suspect is in custody in connection with an attempted kidnapping on the North Side. <\/p>\n In a Facebook post<\/a>, the constable\u2019s office stated that the incident happened Thursday, just before 1 p.m., on U.S. Highway 281 northbound near the St. Mary\u2019s Street on-ramp.<\/p>\n A deputy had stopped on the highway to investigate after several people attempted to get his attention. <\/p>\n The post said that witnesses told the deputy about the attempted kidnapping and pointed to the suspect.<\/p>\n According to the witnesses, the suspect jumped into a vehicle and tried to take an infant from the back seat as the mother attended to the child. <\/p>\n The post states that the suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is currently hospitalized. <\/p>\n According to the constable\u2019s office, the suspect faces pending kidnapping charges from the Bexar County District Attorney\u2019s Office once released from the hospital. <\/p>\n A news release from the Precinct 1 Constable\u2019s Office said an accident occurred while the mother was trying to alert other motorists; however, details of the incident are unclear.
