{"id":333620,"date":"2025-10-26T10:31:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T10:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/333620\/"},"modified":"2025-10-26T10:31:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T10:31:17","slug":"la-nina-map-shows-snowfall-forecast-for-each-state-this-winter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/333620\/","title":{"rendered":"La Ni\u00f1a map shows snowfall forecast for each state this winter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">A forecast from meteorologist Max Velocity offers insight into what different regions of the U.S. can expect in terms of snowfall this winter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why It Matters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The National Weather Service (NWS) recently announced that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/la-nina-arrives-map-shows-potential-impacts-on-us-10861071\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">La Ni\u00f1a conditions<\/a>\u00a0have been detected and are expected to continue from December 2025 to February 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmel.noaa.gov\/elnino\/what-is-la-nina\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">La\u202fNi\u00f1a is the cool phase<\/a> of a natural, recurring climate cycle known as the El Ni\u00f1o-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/flooding-el-nino-getting-worse-climate-nasa-1843469\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The other phase is El Ni\u00f1o<\/a>, which is the warm counterpart. <a href=\"https:\/\/oceanservice.noaa.gov\/facts\/ninonina.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Both can have a global impact on weather, wildfires and ecosystems<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Although La Ni\u00f1a is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov\/products\/analysis_monitoring\/enso_advisory\/ensodisc.shtml\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expected to remain weak<\/a>, the NWS said it could still influence the upcoming winter season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What To Know<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The north central U.S., the Rockies, parts of the Midwest, Ohio Valley and the Northeast are expected to see above average levels of snowfall this winter, according to the forecast, posted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_gs5dxpu_00\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Velocity\u2019s YouTube channel<\/a>, which has some 1.4 million subscribers.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"10907175\" alt=\"\" caption=\"\" captionoverride=\"Velocity's winter snowfall forecast. (Max Velocity - Severe Weather Center\/YouTube)\" credit=\"\" sourcealt=\"\" sources=\"[]\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2000\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;aspect-ratio:inherit;object-fit:cover\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Untitled-design-2025-10-20T155454.855.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">\u201cWe can expect to see six to 12 inches more snow across areas like this in comparison to a normal winter,\u201d Velocity said in the video.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The meteorologist said 12 to 24 more inches of snowfall than average is expected for parts of the Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes regions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">\u201cA mixture of very cold air and a lot of moisture should come together across these areas to create the potential for significant snowstorms,\u201d Velocity said, adding that these could result in snow totals above 18 inches per storm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">\u201cUnfortunately, the same cannot be said for the western United States, especially if you are west of the Serra Nevada,\u201d the meteorologist continued. Velocity said these areas may not see any snowfall events at all this winter. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Up to 24 to 36 inches of below average snowfall was forecast across the Sierra Nevada, Velocity said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">As for the Southern Plains, the Deep South, and the Ohio Valley, this area would be a \u201ctoss-up,\u201d said the meteorologist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">\u201cWe may have one or two big winter storms that could lead to significant snowfall and ice, similar to what we saw last winter. We might also have a quieter winter in these areas where maybe one or two isolated snowfall events happen,\u201d Velocity said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What People Are Saying<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\"><strong>Max Velocity <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MaxVelocityWX\/status\/1978993604593951104\" rel=\"nofollow\">said in a post on X<\/a>, Thursday: <\/strong>\u201cWith La Ni\u00f1a likely making a return, we anticipate above average snowfall across the Midwest and Northeast.
