{"id":333670,"date":"2025-10-26T11:00:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T11:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/333670\/"},"modified":"2025-10-26T11:00:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T11:00:11","slug":"radiohead-reveal-whether-fans-can-expect-new-material-after-upcoming-tour-dates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/333670\/","title":{"rendered":"Radiohead reveal whether fans can expect new material after upcoming tour dates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/radiohead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Radiohead<\/a> have revealed whether fans can expect new material from the band after they play their UK and European dates.<\/p>\n<p>The band are returning to the stage for the first tine in over seven years in the coming weeks, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/radiohead-announce-2025-uk-and-european-tour-including-london-o2-residency-buy-tickets-3889951\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four-night residencies in each of Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen and Berlin<\/a> set to take place between November 4 and December 12. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/radiohead-announce-re-sale-date-after-2025-uk-and-european-tour-tickets-sell-out-3892379\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All of the tickets sold out very quickly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They will be the first Radiohead shows since the end of their \u2018A Moon Shaped Pool\u2019 world tour in 2018, with the 77th and final show of that tour having gone down in Philadelphia\u2019s Wells Fargo Center in August of that year.<\/p>\n<p>The band have also not released any new music since\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/blogs\/nme-blogs\/radiohead-a-moon-shaped-pool-talking-points-8462\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the album of the same name<\/a>, released in 2016, and in a new interview in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/culture\/music\/article\/radiohead-tour-2025-interview-israel-fn0bmdzl8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Times<\/a>, they addressed whether there are plans in place for them to record and release new music.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOJIafeDOvV\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When asked if there will ever be new Radiohead songs, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/jonny-greenwood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jonny Greenwood<\/a> responded: \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe haven\u2019t thought past the tour,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/thom-yorke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thom Yorke<\/a> added. \u201cI\u2019m just stunned we got this far.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/radioheads-colin-greenwood-says-band-are-taking-busking-approach-to-2025-tour-weve-whittled-it-down-to-about-70-songs-3890500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">It comes just weeks after bassist Colin Greenwood said<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s going to be the first time I think we\u2019ve done shows where we haven\u2019t got new material to play as work in progress. But you never know, some stuff might come up or not or whatever, so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the new interview, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/radiohead-reveal-theyll-be-playing-in-the-round-on-uk-and-european-tour-and-talk-setlists-we-have-too-many-songs-3902277\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">they confirmed that the shows will be played in the round<\/a>, and they revealed that they have whittled down their back catalogue to a shortlist of approximately 65 tracks, which Greenwood said they are \u201call frantically learning\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Yorke,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/ed-obrien\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ed O\u2019Brien<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/philip-selway\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philip Selway<\/a> serve as the band\u2019s \u201csetlist committee\u201d, deciding on the setlist just hours before the start of every show, and they assured fans that the setlists will change from date to date. \u201cWe have too many songs,\u201d Yorke said.<\/p>\n<p>They also shed light on why it has taken so long for the band to play together again. \u201cI guess the wheels came off a bit, so we had to stop,\u201d\u00a0Thom Yorke\u00a0explained. \u201cThere were a lot of elements. The shows felt great but it was, like, let\u2019s halt now before we walk off this cliff.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/thom-yorke-says-witch-hunt-over-israel-stance-wakes-me-up-at-night-as-radiohead-members-share-views-3902249\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The band members have also each reflected on the controversies stemming from their stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict<\/a>, with Yorke saying the \u201clow-level Arthur Miller witch-hunt\u201d on the subject \u201cwakes him up at night\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/radiohead-perform-controversial-show-israel-2113214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were criticised for playing a show in Tel Aviv in 2017<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/thom-yorke-clash-onstage-pro-palestinian-protester-melbourne-show-3808026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yorke got into a clash with a protester at a solo show in Melbourne in 2024<\/a>,\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/radioheads-jonny-greenwood-speaks-out-against-silencing-israeli-artists-for-being-born-jewish-in-israel-while-defending-current-project-3762531\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jonny Greenwood has been attacked for collaborating with<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/radioheads-jonny-greenwood-plays-show-in-israel-reportedly-protests-for-hostage-deal-and-elections-3761459\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">playing live with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yorke said he would \u201cabsolutely not\u201d play in Israel with the band again, but Greenwood \u201cpolitely disagreed\u201d with him, calling the backlash \u201cthe embodiment of the left\u201d, adding: \u201cThe left look for traitors, the right for converts and it\u2019s depressing that we are the closest they can get.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/bds-movement-call-for-boycott-of-radioheads-2025-tour-3889991\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has argued that the band\u2019s \u201ccomplicit silence\u201d and support of Israeli performers during the \u201cgenocide against Palestinians in Gaza\u201d<\/a>\u00a0should lead to a boycott of their upcoming shows.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Radiohead have revealed whether fans can expect new material from the band after they play their UK and&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":333671,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[29],"tags":[5737,171,22469,975,67,132,68],"class_list":{"0":"post-333670","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-music","8":"tag-alternative","9":"tag-entertainment","10":"tag-indie","11":"tag-music","12":"tag-united-states","13":"tag-unitedstates","14":"tag-us"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/115440125433816877","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/333670","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=333670"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/333670\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/333671"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=333670"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=333670"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=333670"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
