{"id":333839,"date":"2025-10-26T12:44:29","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T12:44:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/333839\/"},"modified":"2025-10-26T12:44:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T12:44:29","slug":"venezuelas-maduro-claims-us-is-plotting-war-with-aircraft-carrier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/333839\/","title":{"rendered":"Venezuela&#8217;s Maduro claims US is plotting war with aircraft carrier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CARACAS (AP) \u2014 Venezuela\u2019s <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/nicolas-maduro\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro<\/a> said the U.S. government is \u201cfabricating\u201d a war against him as the <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/video\/the-united-states-most-advanced-aircraft-carrier-the-uss-gerald-r-ford-arrives-in-split-808e2c8f2af9496ab1d34d08c72f6ced\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">world\u2019s biggest warship<\/a> approached the South American country, while moving to revoke the citizenship of an opponent he accuses of egging on an invasion.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro said in a national broadcast on Friday night that the administration of President Donald Trump is \u201cfabricating a new eternal war\u201d as the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, which can host up to 90 airplanes and attack helicopters, moves closer to Venezuela. <\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the Venezuelan president also referred to the pressure he has felt from the U.S. government as he started legal proceedings seeking to revoke the citizenship and cancel the passport of opposition politician Leopoldo L\u00f3pez.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey promised they would never again get involved in a war and they are fabricating a war that we will avoid,\u201d said Maduro in Friday night\u2019s address. Trump has accused him, <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-alien-enemies-act-venezuela-tren-de-aragua-103919f71db9a9e7a9a3de1028585483\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">without providing evidence<\/a>, of being the leader of the organized crime gang <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/venezuela-strike-caribbean-rubio-trump-tren-de-aragua-9e0dac7dee5a3fb14a16370508fc460d\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tren de Aragua<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are fabricating an extravagant narrative, a vulgar, criminal and totally fake one,\u201d Maduro added. \u201cVenezuela is a country that does not produce cocaine leaves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>American forces have destroyed several boats off the Venezuelan coast, allegedly for their role in trafficking drugs into the United States. At least 43 people were killed in those attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Tren de Aragua, which traces its roots to a Venezuelan prison, is not known for having a big role in global drug trafficking but for its involvement in contract killings, extortion and people smuggling.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro was <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/venezuela-election-tally-sheets-actas-oas-carter-center-41d1000926d0ab99e522e53bf6c2b916\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">widely accused of stealing last year\u2019s election<\/a>, and countries including the U.S. have called for him to go.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodr\u00edguez said on her Telegram account that Maduro had appealed to the country\u2019s Supreme Court of Justice to revoke L\u00f3pez\u2019s nationality for his \u201cgrotesque, criminal, and illegal call for a military invasion of Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>L\u00f3pez, a well-known Venezuelan opposition figure who has been exiled in Spain since 2020, has publicly expressed his support for the deployment of U.S. ships in the Caribbean and attacks on suspected drug trafficking vessels.<\/p>\n<p>The vice president said that L\u00f3pez\u2019s passport will be revoked \u201cimmediately,\u201d and that he is also accused of promoting \u201ceconomic blockage\u201d and \u201ccalling for the mass murder of Venezuelans in complicity with enemy and foreign governments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The opposition leader reacted on his X account, dismissing the move because \u201caccording to the Constitution, no Venezuelan born in Venezuela can have their nationality revoked.\u201d He once more expressed support for a U.S. military deployment and military actions in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaduro wants to take away my nationality for saying what all Venezuelans think and want: freedom,\u201d L\u00f3pez wrote. \u201cAfter having stolen the 2024 election, we agree to pursue all avenues to end the dictatorship,\u201d the politician added.<\/p>\n<p>L\u00f3pez spent more than three years in a military prison after participating in anti-government protests in 2014.
