Hermann \/ MTA<\/p>\n<p>Iconic New York eateries are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/news\/mta-to-end-metrocard-sales-omny-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">saying goodbye to the MetroCard<\/a> with delicious food promos for New Yorkers to enjoy throughout the rest of the year, the <a href=\"http:\/\/mta.info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">MTA<\/a> announced on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The MTA partnered with six restaurants and retailers synonymous with NYC for a months-long celebration to honor the MetroCard\u2019s 31-year history while welcoming subway and bus riders into the era of tap-and-go payment.<\/p>\n<p>Carvel, Golden Krust, Zabar\u2019s, Gong cha, Alidoro, and Stretch Pizza by Wylie Dufresne are the companies participating in the historic, transit-themed promo. They are now offering an array of meals, desserts and beverages on their menus so customers can bid a tasty adieu to the MetroCard before it goes extinct on Dec. 31.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-137806086\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/metrocard-food-promo-mta-102425_992fe7.jpg\" alt=\"Drinks on a table with a blue tablecloth\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" title=\"Fantastic fare-well: How the MTA and famous NYC food vendors are giving the MetroCard a delicious departure 2\"  \/>MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber, MTA New York City Transit President Demetrius Crichlow, and MTA Chief Customer Officer Shanifah Rieara host an event with restaurants and food vendors at 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr to commemorate the end of the MetroCard era on Friday, Oct 24, 2025Photo by MTA \/ Jessie Mislavsky<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re sending the MetroCard off in style with a farewell campaign that is worthy of an icon by partnering with some of the City\u2019s most celebrated food vendors,\u201d said MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber. \u201cMetroCard has served us well, but we\u2019re excited for the future of tap-and-ride.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Featured MetroCard-themed items from the eateries include:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alidoronyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Alidoro<\/a> \u2013 The La Tessera sandwich (\u201cthe card\u201d in Italian): crispy chicken cutlet, sweet soppressata, fresh mozzarella, Calabrian chili vodka sauce and garlic pesto cream on a toasted semolina baguette. The sandwich will go on sale Nov. 3.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/carvel.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Carvel<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 MetroCard Flying Saucer, free MetroCard Sprinkles with mention of the MetroCard and purchase of scooped or soft serve ice cream, and custom cakes with edible MetroCard and Cardvaark images.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goldenkrust.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Golden Krust<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0With purchase of Golden Krust\u2019s signature Jamaican-style patty, customers will receive a free Jamaican coco bread.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gongchausa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Gong cha<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 \u201cThe M Tea A Drink,\u201d inspired by Gong cha\u2019s signature Milk Foam Green Tea. The limited edition drink combines green tea, pearls, blue milk foam made with butterfly pea flower, and chocolate powder MTA logo, echoes the colors of the iconic MetroCard. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stretchpizzanyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Stretch Pizza<\/a> (by Wylie Dufresne)\u00a0\u2013 The Metro pizza has vodka sauce, fior di latte cheese, chicken cutlet, spicy Calabrian chili, garlic pesto cream and grated parm.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zabars.com\/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=22580696078&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAD92rzbuGSX7Cnu1ofqZ82UvL5gt9&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwjffHBhBuEiwAKMb8pDLAN0Q73plSsHFooJnwuw0e1qA-GGW_j1zKrBhNVhx9QYLejrorFRoCrd8QAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Zabar\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 The famous grocery store will have MetroCard and Cardvaark cookies.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just one day after the promo started, Carvel Woodside was already selling the MetroCard Flying Saucers, which are round ice cream sandwiches. They feature vanilla ice cream with blue and yellow sprinkles between two crunchy chocolate cookies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Store manager Jessica Wong shared her thoughts on the MetroCard entering retirement.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is something that is very nostalgic,\u201d Wong said. \u201cThis is the last year for the MetroCard, and we just want to celebrate.\u201d<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-137806083\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/carvel-store-lennon-102525.jpg\" alt=\"woman in an ice cream shop were a black shirt and black hat\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" title=\"Fantastic fare-well: How the MTA and famous NYC food vendors are giving the MetroCard a delicious departure 3\"  \/>Jessica Wong, store manager at Carvel Woodside, shows off the limited-time MetroCard-themed Flying Saucers.Photo by Barbara Russo-Lennon\n<\/p>\n<p>More MetroCard fun<\/p>\n<p>Through the end of 2025, riders can look forward to special pop-up customer outreach events across the city at stations, customer service centers and some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLZHkn788ZQJN9SRw9ia175lE17KV8bKCd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list%3DPLZHkn788ZQJN9SRw9ia175lE17KV8bKCd&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1761524019598000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2JVDseluqIoBN1HQaraBNK\">MTA Sessions<\/a>, where riders can pose with MetroCard, token and tap-and-ride props. Riders will also hear some famous New Yorkers bid farewell to the MetroCard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytransitmuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The New York Transit Museum<\/a> will commemorate the end of MetroCard sales with MetroCard-themed products. Hermann \/ MTA<\/p>\n<p>The MTA announced earlier this year that the final day for MetroCard sales and distribution will be Dec. 31, as the OMNY contactless tap-and-ride payment system fully replaces the three-decade old swipe system.
