PHILADELPHIA \u2014 Cam Skattebo\u2019s brilliant rookie season just took a turn for the worse.<\/p>\n
In fact, his season could be over.<\/p>\n
Skattebo suffered a dislocated right ankle midway through the second quarter Sunday against the Eagles and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, the Giants announced. <\/p>\n
Giants teammates dropped to a knee, and several turned their backs to avoid the gruesome scene.<\/p>\n

Dr. David Chao, the former team physician for the Chargers and founder of SICscore.com, diagnosed the injury off the broadcast and wrote on \u201cX\u201d that \u201chopefully without infection (he is facing) surgery and good recovery for next season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Skattebo left the field on a cart with his ankle in an air cast and received a big ovation from the notoriously unfriendly Eagles crowd, which is a sign that the hard-running running back has earned their respect. He scored his team-leading seventh touchdown earlier in the game on an 18-yard pass from Jaxson Dart.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
