Out of work Ange Postecoglou<\/a> was “hurt” by his brutal sacking by Nottingham Forest according to his friend and fellow Aussie, former England rugby coach Eddie Jones.<\/p>\n

And it has been claimed that the Australian would have to weigh up if he fancied a “top league” over Celtic <\/a>– should a return be offered by the Scottish champions.<\/p>\n

Postecoglou spent two successful seasons in Glasgow’s east end, signing off in the summer of 2023 to join Tottenham after a Treble-winning campaign.<\/p>\n

After a fifth place finish in his debut Premier League campaign, he would lift the Europa League last term to end Spurs’ silverware drought before being shown the door.<\/p>\n

The 60-year-old spent a winless eight-game stint at Nottingham Forest before being shown the door last week.<\/p>\n

He was replaced by Sean Dyche in the hot seat – but things haven’t got much better under the Englishman as he suffered defeat Bournemouth in his first Premier League game.<\/p>\n

And Postecoglou’s pal Jones revealed that he had spoken to the 60-year-old about his quick-fire Forest departure.<\/p>\n

Discussing what it is like to be axed as a boss, Jones told SEN<\/a> “I just love coaching.<\/p>\n

“When you finish playing, it’s the next best thing. It’s such an enjoyable experience.<\/p>\n

“The more you coach, the more you learn that your day will come. Don’t look too far ahead. I’ve been sacked a couple of times now and it hurts; it puts you in a world of hurt.<\/p>\n

“Ange Postecoglou just got sacked. We were just texting each other the other day. He knew it was coming but it still hurts. Hurts like buggery.”<\/p>\n

Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers <\/a>is out of contract in the summer and has been open in his criticism of the quality of the Celtic squad<\/a> and the club’s transfer spending.<\/p>\n

With tensions bubbling off the pitch, criticism has now been thrown at the boss after a 3-1 defeat to Hearts saw the Scottish champions fall eight points behind the table-topping Jambos.<\/p>\n

England cap Chris Waddle reckons that punters would be gutted if Rodgers left the role – but Postecoglou may not want to come back and could focus on a European league for his next job.<\/p>\n

Speaking to BOYLE Sports, who offer the best football odds<\/a>, Waddle said: \u201cI think Celtic fans would be disappointed if Brendan Rodgers left. I have a lot of respect for Brendan Rodgers; I think he’s done a great job with Celtic.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnge Postecoglou was a popular choice and did well because he brought in players from the Asian market that people hadn’t even heard of, and they were a revelation. That changed Celtic around again.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I don’t know if Ange would think, \u2018I don’t want to go back there. I want to manage in the Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1, or the Bundesliga.\u2019 He might be thinking, \u2018I want to be in a top league’.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can probably see Brendan being a little bit disillusioned that they never signed players to compete in the Champions League.<\/p>\n
