SAN DIEGO<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The San Diego State women\u2019s soccer team returned home on Sunday for a match against Wyoming and picked up a much-needed win thanks to a Mia Hambro Svendsen<\/a> goal and a Kailey Carlen<\/a> shutout.<\/p>\n

San Diego State (7-4-6, 3-2-4 MW) keeper Kailey Carlen<\/a> made a save on a shot by Wyoming\u2019s (7-6-5, 2-4-3 MW) Jazi Barela 3:43 into the match.<\/p>\n

The Aztecs picked up a team save a minute later on an Erin Dahl shot.<\/p>\n

Carlen saved another Barela shot in the 15th minute.<\/p>\n

In the 29th minute, Katie Senn<\/a> took a corner kick and passed to Mia Lane<\/a>. Lane took a deep shot from the corner of the box that deflected off the hand of Wyoming keeper Haley Bartel before Mia Hambro Svendsen<\/a> headed it in for her second career goal to give the Aztecs a 1-0 lead, which is all they would need.<\/p>\n

SDSU\u2019s Karoline Lundstrom<\/a> took a shot on goal late in the 35th minute but it was saved by Bartel.<\/p>\n

Carlen tallied her second save on a shot by Alyssa Glover in the 37th minute.<\/p>\n

The defenses took over in the second half with Carlen saving the only two shots on goal, which were attempted by Dahl in the 74th minute and Kiley Ballek in the 84th minute.<\/p>\n

SDSU\u2019s Alexyz Nakamoto<\/a> was given a yellow card in the 88th minute.<\/p>\n

San Diego State led in saves (5-1) while Wyoming had more shots (12-8), shots on goal (6-2) and corner kicks (6-5).<\/p>\n

THE NOTE I<\/strong>
With Sunday\u2019s win, San Diego State moves into sixth place in the Mountain West and controls its own destiny for making the conference tournament, which the Aztecs would do with a win over New Mexico on Thursday. SDSU would also make the tournament if neither Fresno State nor Colorado College wins.<\/p>\n

THE NOTE II<\/strong>
The shutout was the sixth of Kailey Carlen<\/a>\u2019s season and career, putting her one behind a four-way tie for tenth in the SDSU single-season record book.<\/p>\n

San Diego State wraps up its regular season at home on the SDSU Sports Deck against New Mexico at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 30. Admission is free and the Aztecs will honor Grace Goins<\/a>, Taryn Grobbel<\/a> and Boston Girman<\/a> before the match.<\/p>\n
