Hell Gate/Youtube

Mamdani quickly defended his decision by claiming that Tisch had already been working to accomplish some of the ideas he was pushing, including the formation of a Department of Public Safety.

But Robbins still appeared skeptical, as Tisch has been a vocal opponent of some criminal-justice reforms, claiming last month that spikes in crime were due to the changes passed by ex Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The police commissioner has also backed the decision to keep the city’s controversial gang database active, as well as pushed for a crackdown on low-level offenses and opposed bail and judicial-discovery reform, as Robbins and his fellow hosts pointed out.

“So she’s going to reverse her position on all those things?” Robbins asked Mamdani skeptically. “She’s going to follow your lead in City Hall?”

Tisch has previously blamed the type of criminal reform Mamdani is pushing for as a cause of crime spikes in the city. LP Media

Mamdani replied, “I think everyone will follow my lead.

“I’ll be the mayor.”

Mamdani also tried to shut down worries that his relationship with Tisch would be a repeat of the fallout between former Mayor Bill De Blasio and ex-NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, the latter of whom resigned after a series of spats over policing policies.

Despite Mamdani’s claim that Tisch would be on board with his leadership, the candidate admitted he had yet to directly speak to the police commissioner about continuing under his administration if he wins.

Mamdani admitted that he has not spoke with Tisch privately since the summer. ZUMAPRESS.com

“I haven’t had a private conversation with her on that,” Mamdani told CNN on Sunday.

Mamdani said he had not spoken to Tisch one-on-one since July. The police commissioner has meanwhile avoided making any comments on the mayoral race.

Mamdani’s signature policing policy, creating the Department of Public Safety, would require Tisch’s full support to roll out.

Lefty New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani says NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch will fall behind his vision for criminal-justice…

[5122
5229,12939,5248,405,403,5226,5225,5228,5227,5341,7207,67,586,132,5230,68,1154,2969,5301
0":"post-335006","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-jessica-tisch","10":"tag-metro","11":"tag-new-york","12":"tag-new-york-city","13":"tag-newyork","14":"tag-newyorkcity","15":"tag-ny","16":"tag-nyc","17":"tag-nyc-mayoral-election-2025","18":"tag-police","19":"tag-united-states","20":"tag-united-states-of-america","21":"tag-unitedstates","22":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","23":"tag-us","24":"tag-us-news","25":"tag-usa","26":"tag-zohran-mamdani
["GET
