FORT WORTH, Texas \u2014 BYU women\u2019s tennis wrapped up three days of competition at the Battle for the Boot Open, held Oct. 23\u201325 at TCU, recording a series of strong results in both singles and doubles play.<\/p>\n
The Cougars opened Thursday with a pair of doubles wins. Gracie Levelston<\/a> and Kendall Kovick<\/a> defeated Notre Dame\u2019s Rylie Hanford and Mari-Louise Van Zyl, 7-6 (5), while YuYun Chen<\/a> and Bella Lewis<\/a> earned a 6-3 win over Notre Dame\u2019s Jessica Kovalcik and Esther Vyrlan. Sage Bergeson<\/a> and Karina Mohamed<\/a> dropped their opener to TCU\u2019s Maya Drozd and Cayetana Gay, 6-3.<\/p>\n In singles play, Levelston battled back to top TCU\u2019s Cayetana Gay, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3, and Chen edged TCU\u2019s Letizia Corsini, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. Kovick, Mohamed, Bergeson and Lewis each came up short against TCU opponents.<\/p>\n Friday featured several wins across the lineup. Levelston and Kovick posted a 6-3 doubles victory over Texas Tech\u2019s Hailey Murphy and Kseniia Logvin, and Bergeson and Mohamed defeated Texas Tech\u2019s Ella Brownback and TCU\u2019s Letizia Corsini, 6-1. In singles, Levelston defeated Rice\u2019s Francesca Maguina, 6-1, 6-2, while Chen, Mohamed, Bergeson and Lewis each added wins against Rice players.<\/p>\n The Cougars finished the weekend Saturday with doubles and singles matchups against SMU, Nebraska and Baylor. Levelston and Kovick earned a 6-3 win over SMU\u2019s Caroline McGinley and Allie Bittner.
