It was cancelled, along with another Game as a Service from Days Gone team Bend Studio, but now some of the developer’s work has surfaced online.

Via a MP1ST report, a series of environmental screenshots have been made public, and they reveal the cancelled game would have marked a return to the franchise’s original Greek setting. We also get glimpses of various assets that would have littered the areas of the game, like pots, as well as a location that could seemingly change its appearance.

In one image, a place supposedly called Hades’ Armory would look different when in a “cursed” state. The outlet reports all these environments are quite wide and open, owing to the fact they’d need to accommodate multiple players. It was supposedly scrapped as a result of a “recent review”, and in the aftermath, Sony would work “closely with Bend and Bluepoint to determine what are the next projects and plan to do everything we can to ensure there is minimal business impact”.

More recently, Bluepoint Games has been recruiting for positions with experience in “third-person melee action” games. “Work alongside animation, character artists, vis dev, level design, engineers, etc to design enemy and boss-type characters and refine engaging combat systems and mechanics,” the job advertisement revealed earlier this month.

As for the returning Greek setting, there’s speculation the time period will still make a comeback in the form of a 2.5D God of War game.
