Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, 79, made the remarks when a reporter asked about his former chief strategist Steve Bannon\u2019s claim that a secret plan might negate the 22nd Amendment\u2019s term limit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would love to do it. I have my best numbers ever, it\u2019s very terrible, I have my best numbers,\u201d Trump said aboard Air Force One en route to Tokyo for meetings with Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.<\/p>\n<p>President Trump said Monday he would love to serve a third term. AP<\/p>\n<p>Trump, whose approval rating is 45.1%,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/approval\/donald-trump\/approval-rating\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> according to<\/a> the RealClearPolitics average of recent polls, has repeatedly flirted with a possible final candidacy in what has been widely interpreted as a way to avoid an early lame-duck status and also to troll Democrats \u2014 even handing out <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/01\/us-news\/president-trump-taunting-top-democratic-leaders-with-trump-2028-hats\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cTrump 2028\u201d campaign hats<\/a> to White House guests.<\/p>\n<p>Bannon claimed in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sentdefender\/status\/1981484216291643579\" rel=\"nofollow\">an interview<\/a> with the Economist that \u201che\u2019s going to get a third term\u2026 at the appropriate time, we\u2019ll lay out what the plan is. But there\u2019s a plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump definitively ruled out the most widely discussed option of running as Vance\u2019s running mate and then having Vance resign to circumvent the 22nd Amendment\u2019s rule that a person can only be \u201celected\u201d president twice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the people wouldn\u2019t like that. It\u2019s too cute. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Trump said that he could also see Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio forming the Republican ticket in the next election, saying the pair would be \u201cunstoppable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But he continued to leave the door open for himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll I can tell you is that we have a great group of people, which they don\u2019t. They have [Texas Rep.] Jasmine Crockett, a low IQ person. They have AOC who is low IQ. You give her an IQ test, have her pass the exams that I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed, I took very hard,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Trump spoke about the possibility when asked about Steve Bannon\u2019s claim that there\u2019s a secret plan for a third term. Let Jasmine go against Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump told CNBC in August he would \u201cprobably not\u201d seek a third term, but told NBC in March he was <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/03\/30\/us-news\/trump-says-hes-not-joking-about-third-term-and-notes-an-apparent-loophole-to-limit-there-are-methods\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cnot joking\u201d<\/a> about running again.<\/p>\n<p>During the Air Force One gaggle, Trump also revealed that he had an MRI scan during his<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/10\/us-news\/trumps-doctor-touts-presidents-exceptional-health-after-undergoing-physical\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> annual physical<\/a> this month. He declined to say why, but said \u201cit was perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump will be 82 at the end of his current term.
