{"id":336316,"date":"2025-10-27T15:37:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T15:37:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/336316\/"},"modified":"2025-10-27T15:37:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T15:37:17","slug":"donald-trump-doesnt-rule-out-running-in-2028-for-third-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/336316\/","title":{"rendered":"Donald Trump Doesn&#8217;t Rule Out Running In 2028 For Third Term"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" id=\"auto-tag_donald-trump\" data-tag=\"donald-trump\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a> again addressed the idea that he would run for president in 2028, even though the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution prohibits anyone from being elected to the White House more than twice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThat hasn\u2019t stopped Trump from brandishing Trump 2028 merchandise, or his former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, from insisting that there is a plan for him to remain as president.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cAm I not ruling it out, you will have to tell me,\u201d Trump told reporters Monday as he was traveling to Japan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOne theory that has been floated is that Trump could run for vice president, with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/jd-vance\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jd-vance\" data-tag=\"jd-vance\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JD Vance<\/a> on the top of the ticket. Then, Vance could resign and Trump could assume office again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBut the 12th Amendment states that \u201cno person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.\u201d The theory is that Trump would only be bound by the eligibility in place in 1804, when the 12th amendment was ratified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTrump claimed that he would be \u201callowed to\u201d run for vice president, but said, \u201cI think the people wouldn\u2019t like that because it\u2019s too cute. It wouldn\u2019t be right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe 22nd Amendment was ratified in 1951 out of concerns of presidents serving for life, following the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was elected four times. Many Republicans on Capitol Hill recognize this, as Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) earlier this year proposed a constitutional amendment that would allow Trump a third term.
