The Avalanche locked up one of the Colorado Eagles\u2019 forwards to an NHL contract on Monday.<\/p>\n

Tristen Nielsen signed a two-year deal, which begins this season and goes through the end of the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old forward is off to a solid start with the Eagles, where he was playing on an AHL contract. Through seven games, Nielsen has three goals and seven points with a +5 rating. The undrafted forward spent four years playing for Abbotsford in the AHL, capping off that stint with a Calder Cup championship in 2024-25.<\/p>\n

Before turning pro, Nielsen was a teammate of Trent Miner in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 192 pounds, Nielsen participated in the Avalanche\u2019s training camp before being sent down to the AHL.<\/p>\n

By signing an NHL deal, he becomes a call-up option for the Avs.<\/p>\n
