Following another impressive year on the ATP Tour, Taylor Fritz\u2019s level has taken a dip in recent weeks. <\/strong><\/p>\n

After Fritz reached the final of the Japan Open<\/a> in September, the American entered the Shanghai Masters, where his campaign came to an early end. <\/p>\n

In his second match at the penultimate Masters event of the season, he lost in straight sets to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Then, Fritz<\/a>\u2018s indoor hard-court season started with a second-round exit at the Swiss Indoors in Basel, losing to Ugo Humbert. <\/p>\n

Now, ahead of his campaign at the Paris Masters<\/a>, the world number four has provided a fitness update which may explain his recent results. <\/p>\n

In an interview with Tennis TV<\/a>, Fritz said: \u201cI think when it comes to playing, there are three things.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s: How does your body feel, how is your mind, you know, how mentally ready you are to be playing and be out there competing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe third thing is just how your game is in general, you know, and I feel like my game is at a good spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m playing pretty good tennis. My body is\u2026 It\u2019s okay, you know, there are some things for sure that I need some time to heal up.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I just got to kind of finish the season strong and work through it the last couple weeks, and mentally I\u2019m feeling ready to go and compete, so you know I\u2019m not definitely not in a bad spot.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his first match at the Paris Masters, Fritz will face Aleksandar Vukic, in what marks a fourth career meeting between the two. <\/p>\n

Fritz leads the Australian 3-0 in their head-to-head, with his most recent win coming at the Washington Open in the summer. <\/p>\n

There, the US star won comfortably in straight sets, but in their previous matchup, Vukic tested Fritz, forcing him to two tiebreaks in the 2024 Eastbourne Open semifinals. <\/p>\n

Vukic also brought their first meeting on the ATP Tour in the 2023 Atlanta final to a decisive third set, but could not get over the line. <\/p>\n
