Reaction from the firing of LSU<\/a><\/strong> head coach Brian Kelly<\/a><\/strong> continues to pour in, even over 24 hours later. Monday brought one from former Tigers defensive back Matthew Langlois<\/a><\/strong>, who did not speak highly of Kelly as a person. Langlois took to social media to explain what happened to happen after medically retiring from football.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was FORCED to medically retire before I could get a 2nd or 3rd opinion,\u201d Langlois said<\/a> via X. \u201cWhen I was playing very well before my injury, I\u2019d hear from Coach Kelly quite often. The second I got injured, not a word since. Genuinely one of the worst humans I\u2019ve been around, ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then sent out a follow-up tweet, giving a bigger picture look at the program under Kelly. Langlois believes the main motive for Kelly was money, not building something at LSU. Strong words from a former player who played for the Tigers under two different head coaches.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnless you were producing positively for him on the field, he could care less about you,\u201d Langlois said<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019d pass me in the hallways, not a glimpse, not a word. He\u2019s only in it for the money and himself. Absolutely ruined the culture of LSU football and I hope people see the real Brian Kelly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Langlois stepped away from football ahead of the 2024 season, Kelly\u2019s third season around the program. He missed all of 2022 and 2023 after tearing his ACL during his sophomore year against Southern. While rehabbing the knee, Langlois did not even get to go through spring practice. Viewed to be a tough decision at the time, it may not have fully been Langlios\u2019 to make.<\/p>\n

An opportunity to play for LSU did come in 2021 as a true freshman. Much of his on-field time was spent with the special teams unit after being a big-time recruit. At this time, Kelly was still Notre Dame<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s head coach. Ed Orgeron<\/a><\/strong> spent most of the year in Baton Rouge before getting fired himself.<\/p>\n

Langlois played high school football at New Roads (LA) Catholic Of Pointe Coupee<\/a><\/strong>, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 261 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle<\/strong><\/a>, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking<\/strong><\/a>, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
