\n Some residents in Jamaica say they won\u2019t evacuate their homes despite the threat of destruction that Hurricane Melissa is expected to bring to the island.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI hear what they say, but I am not leaving,\u201d Noel Francis, a 64-year-old fisherman, told The Associated Press<\/a>.\n <\/p>\n

\n Francis lives on the beach in the southern town of Old Harbor Bay, where he was born. \u201cI can manage myself,\u201d he said.\n <\/p>\n

\n His neighbor, Bruce Dawkins, also said he would stay and ride the storm out with his friend.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI am not going anywhere,\u201d he told The Associated Press.\n <\/p>\n

\n Another resident, Hyacinthe White, said while she is concerned about water levels, she had no plans to evacuate, the Associated Press reported.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cMy only concern is flooding, because we live near the sea,\u201d White said.\n <\/p>\n

\n Sandra Walker, a single mother of two, told The Associated Press she had \u201cno choice\u201d but to remain in her stall shop sorting the produce she sells.\n <\/p>\n
