Restaurateurs in Dallas-Fort Worth are anxiously awaiting results of the Michelin Guide Texas, which will be announced tonight<\/a>, Oct. 28, 2025, in a star-studded ceremony in Houston.<\/p>\n

None of the restaurants that received a Michelin star in 2024<\/a> get to keep their shine in 2025.<\/p>\n

That makes for a tense evening, as chefs wait to hear whether their restaurants are among the best in the world.<\/p>\n

The secretive efforts of Michelin\u2019s anonymous inspectors have been a topic of conversation for decades while Michelin expanded its restaurant critiques from its home in France across Europe, then into Asia, North America and South America.<\/p>\n

Michelin landed in Texas for the first time in 2024.<\/a><\/p>\n

The mystery that surrounds the Michelin Guide is explored on a nationwide scale in Apple TV series Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, which premiered earlier this month. A host follows Michelin hopefuls through the rigorous weeks before the Guide ceremony as chefs try to impress diners and anonymous critics.<\/p>\n

Even Thomas Keller, chef-owner of one of the most famous dining rooms in the world, the Michelin 3-star restaurant The French Laundry in California, admits the challenges of being the best can feel insurmountable. \u201cWe don\u2019t know when the Michelin inspector comes, we don\u2019t know how often they come, we don\u2019t know anything about them,\u201d he said on Knife Edge. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know what they\u2019re looking for.\u201d So what\u2019s a chef to do?<\/p>\n

\u201cIngredients and execution, that\u2019s your job,\u201d he told a stressed-out chef. \u201cWe think it\u2019s perfect, [and] we realize, \u2018Wow, we could do it even better.\u2019 So we\u2019re going to continue that search for perfection.\u201d<\/p>\n

What\u2019s at stake?<\/p>\n

Michelin\u2019s top honors are its stars. Restaurateurs and chefs at the top of their game in Dallas-Fort Worth are likely hoping for a 1-star award, the first in a stair-step structure from 1 to 2 to 3 Michelin stars. Only the world\u2019s finest restaurants will receive 2 or 3 Michelin stars. So far, none in Texas have been bestowed that high honor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tonight in Houston, Michelin will also hand out Bib Gourmands, an award for restaurants that serve great food at a reasonable price. <\/p>\n

And, it will offer Green Stars to the few who are dedicated to a high level of environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

The final known award from Michelin this year is Recommended, a nod of approval from Michelin but not to the level of a star.<\/p>\n

In Michelin\u2019s short history in Texas<\/a> \u2014 just one year \u2014 it gave deep attention to barbecue joints and fine-dining restaurants<\/a>. Now in its sophomore year, Michelin\u2019s anonymous inspectors get to choose which of Texas\u2019 15 restaurants bestowed with a 1-star honor will get to keep the shine. It will remove stars from the restaurants that didn\u2019t perform to Michelin\u2019s culinary standards in 2025.<\/p>\n

And, it will likely honor new restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth that opened in the past year and are good enough to earn Michelin recognition in the Texas Guide in 2025.<\/p>\n

Which North Texas restaurants received Michelin attention in 2024?\"Chef<\/p>\n

A total of 28 Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants were honored in 202<\/a>4<\/a>. The list was largely considered a disappointment to D-FW chefs, as just one Michelin star was awarded in Dallas-Fort Worth<\/a>. The largest category was Recommended, and 20 of North Texas\u2019 finer-dining restaurants were honored. <\/p>\n
