{"id":33896,"date":"2025-07-03T00:08:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T00:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/33896\/"},"modified":"2025-07-03T00:08:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T00:08:08","slug":"teen-paralyzed-in-tennessee-shooting-finally-reunited-with-parents-returns-to-jacksonville-for-medical-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/33896\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen paralyzed in Tennessee shooting finally reunited with parents, returns to Jacksonville for medical treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 A teen paralyzed in a Tennessee shooting has finally come home to Jacksonville after his family was faced with financial challenges that kept him far away from home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The parents of 18-year-old Jameion Washington put out a call to the c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2025\/05\/30\/needs-more-than-i-can-provide-jacksonville-couple-turns-to-community-to-help-bring-home-son-paralyzed-by-gun-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2025\/05\/30\/needs-more-than-i-can-provide-jacksonville-couple-turns-to-community-to-help-bring-home-son-paralyzed-by-gun-violence\/\">ommunity in May to help with financial obligations<\/a> that were hindering them from getting their son transferred from a Memphis hospital to Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">His medical flight arrived at Craig Municipal Airport on Wednesday. His grandmother accompanied him on the plane.<\/p>\n<p>Jameion Washington (WJXT)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Washington was shot in the back multiple times in early February while he was living with his grandmother in Memphis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">His father, James Washington, lost his job to remain by his son\u2019s side while he was in the ICU miles away from home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">His mother, Tahitta Washington, remained in Jacksonville to work. The couple burned through their savings and ran up credit card bills, trying to pay the mounting debts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">News4JAX was there for his reunion with his parents.
