{"id":339390,"date":"2025-10-28T22:58:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T22:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/339390\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T22:58:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T22:58:10","slug":"san-antonio-woman-sentenced-to-8-years-in-prison-after-committing-elder-fraud-to-purchase-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/339390\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio woman sentenced to 8 years in prison after committing elder fraud to purchase vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>BEXAR COUNTY, Texas<\/strong> \u2013 A woman was sentenced to eight years in prison for multiple charges after she committed elder fraud to purchase vehicles from San Antonio-area dealerships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Cassandra Trevino, 42, who used the alias Cassandra Alonzo, was denied her request for probation and sentenced Tuesday for multiple offenses, including fraud and exploitation of the elderly, court records show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">On Feb. 7, Trevino purchased a vehicle from Volkswagen of Alamo Heights using her estranged 87-year-old grandmother\u2019s identification, the Bexar County District Attorney\u2019s Office said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The credit application was submitted online and completed in person by Trevino, \u201cwho presented a falsified temporary ID bearing the victim\u2019s information,\u201d the district attorney\u2019s office said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">According to an arrest affidavit, Trevino presented a driver\u2019s license that was altered to change the date of birth year from 1937 to 1973. Trevino also used her grandmother\u2019s name and social security number to purchase the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After identifying the fraud, the dealership repossessed the vehicle and found Trevino\u2019s real ID inside. The district attorney\u2019s office said an acquaintance also confirmed Trevino\u2019s identity. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">According to the affidavit, Trevino made 46 attempts between Oct. 30, 2024, and Feb. 11, 2025, to use the victim\u2019s credit history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">At the time, Trevino was under indictment for a similar 2024 case where she purchased a vehicle from Gunn Honda using an 82-year-old person\u2019s information, the district attorney\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s our mission to continue the important work of protecting our seniors,\u201d said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales. \u201cWe must remain vigilant. Too often, criminals believe they can prey on older adults, but our seniors are strong, aware, and resilient.
