{"id":339396,"date":"2025-10-28T23:01:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T23:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/339396\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T23:01:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T23:01:11","slug":"survival-to-forever-home-puppy-adopted-after-being-left-in-dangerous-heat-surviving-severe-burns-in-phoenix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/339396\/","title":{"rendered":"Survival to Forever Home: Puppy adopted after being left in dangerous heat, surviving severe burns in Phoenix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nine-month-old Claire, an Australian Cattle Dog, has found a new home after two months of medical treatment for severe burns at the Arizona Humane Society.<\/p>\n<p>PHOENIX, Arizona \u2014 An Australian Cattle Dog puppy has found her forever home after getting treatment for severe burns and heat-related injuries when left out in temperatures of 109 degrees Fahrenheit in July in Phoenix, according to an Arizona Humane Society news release.<\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__placeholder\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/b1646930-d0b8-4b10-835d-5e8f820d5fac_16x9.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__main\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/b1646930-d0b8-4b10-835d-5e8f820d5fac_1140x641.jpg\"  alt=\"\" style=\"opacity:0\" onload=\"this.style.opacity=1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Claire, who is nine months old, was reportedly found locked in a crate for hours outside in direct sunlight on a 110+ degree day.<\/p>\n<p>AHS said upon arrival, the pup was found to be non-responsive in extreme heat distress and had an internal temperature of 109 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>The humane society worked to stabilize Claire&#8217;s temperature before taking her to the shelter&#8217;s trauma hospital. First responders on scene were reportedly shocked at her concerned state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c104 [degrees internally] is usually when you start seeing possible seizures and we start running into organ failure,\u201d Arizona Humane Society Cruelty Investigator Lacey VanDeLaare said. \u201cSo, for her to be at 109 [degrees] and still here, she by all means shouldn\u2019t be here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once at AHS&#8217;s Lazin Animal Foundation Trauma Hospital, veterinarians administered hydration-like fluids and continued to stabilize Claire.<\/p>\n<p>AHS said that while the puppy was getting care, she was found with extreme burns underneath her fur, which resulted in open wounds and the risk of infection.<\/p>\n<p>The shelter&#8217;s medical team used several innovative treatments, including honey bandages, cold light laser therapy and daily wound cleanings prior to Claire being healthy enough to find a Foster Hero home to continue her healing journey.
