Zohran Mamdani\u2019s cheerleader Bill de Blasio denied giving an interview Tuesday that criticized the Democratic socialist candidate \u2014 just before the publication yanked the story offline.<\/p>\n

The Times of London<\/a>\u00a0report published about an hour and 30 minutes before it was taken down claimed de Blasio told the newspaper that the Democratic nominee\u2019s\u00a0math on his proposed\u00a0$10 billion in socialist freebies \u201cdoesn\u2019t hold up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my view, the math doesn\u2019t hold up under scrutiny, and the political hurdles are substantial,\u201d de Blasio was quoted as saying about\u00a0Mamdani\u2019s plan to fund his pie-in-the-sky promises, like free buses and universal childcare.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the ambition is admirable, the cost estimates \u2014 reportedly exceeding $7 billion annually \u2014 rest on optimistic assumptions\u2026 about eliminating waste and raising revenue through new taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n

But de Blasio told The Post soon after the UK Times\u2019 article was published that \u201cstory is entirely false and fabricated.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI never talked to that reporter and I never said those things,\u201d he claimed. \u201cI believe in Zohran and his vision, which I\u2019ve said publicly many times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m demanding via my tweet that they take down the story immediately,\u201d he added, referring to a similar statement\u00a0he posted on X<\/a>\u00a0calling the article fake news.<\/p>\n

Soon after, the article page showed an \u201cerror\u201d message with the words \u201cSorry, we can\u2019t find the page you are looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Times did not return requests for comment. The journalist on the story, Senior US Reporter\u00a0Bevan Hurley, also did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

De Blasio has publicly supported the leading mayoral contender,\u00a0even\u00a0sporting<\/a>\u00a0a \u201cHot Girls for Zohran\u201d T-shirt at a recent protest.<\/p>\n

He endorsed\u00a0the Queens assemblyman\u00a0in a fawning op-ed about\u00a0 in September \u2014 claiming his \u201cbold, sweeping\u201d agenda would save the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t just need Zohran Mamdani to be our mayor because he has the right ideas, or because they can be achieved,\u201d de Blasio\u00a0wrote in the op-ed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0DSA hopeful \u2014 who recently praised de Blasio as his favorite, recent New York City mayor\u2013\u00a0has proposed cutting billions from the budget and a tax hike on the wealthy and corporations to cover the tab for his to-do list.<\/p>\n

De Blasio has long been an ally of Mayor Eric Adams and even gave him a heads-up that the op-ed was coming,\u00a0telling the incumbent\u00a0he would have been in his corner if stuck with the Democratic Party line.<\/p>\n

Adams just recently backed ex-Gov.
