The man suspected of murdering San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Nunez was identified by authorities Tuesday as a 47-year-old man who lived in an apartment close to where the deputy was shot.<\/p>\n

Angelo Jose Saldivar was being treated for injuries he suffered when he was thrown from his motorcycle during a high-speed pursuit along the 210 Freeway<\/a> Monday, and the Sheriffs’ Department said he would be booked on suspicion of murder once released from a hospital.<\/p>\n

Deputy Nunez was shot just after 12:30 p.m. after responding to a domestic violence report in the 12300 block of Hollyhock Drive in Rancho Cucamonga, where court records show Saldivar lived with a woman.<\/p>\n

Nunez was airlifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

The Sheriff’s Department said Saldivar fled on a motorcycle and was pursued by officers and deputies from several law enforcement agencies – reaching speeds of more than 150 mph before a narcotics unit deputy driving an undercover vehicle swerved and knocked Saldivar off the bike near Campus Ave.<\/p>\n

Deputy Nunez was 28 years old and had worked as a deputy for six years.
