I wish her well,’ but I’m not going to waste blood over that.<\/p>\n “If you want to waste your life being in resentment \u2014 50 years later, 58 years later \u2014 fine, go ahead. You’re not living. You have to acknowledge one thing, that we are imperfect. You have to say, \u2018Get over it.\u2019 If you can’t get over it, fine. Good luck to you. But I have no judgment. Onwards.”<\/p>\n Hopkins allegedly walked out of the relationship with Abigail’s mother and his first wife, Petronella Barker, when Abigail was a child. The father and daughter reconnected in the ’90s when he arranged for Abigail to appear in his films “Shadowlands” and “The Remains of the Day.”\u00a0<\/p>\n Hopkins and his daughter, who had cameo appearances in two of his films, haven’t spoken since his wife’s invitation to meet was declined 20 years ago. Hopkins previously told the Radio Times<\/a> he was unaware if he was a grandfather.<\/p>\n “I don\u2019t have any idea,” he said in 2018. “People break up. Families split and, you know, \u2018Get on with your life.\u2019 People make choices. I don\u2019t care one way or the other.”<\/p>\n When he was told that his response sounded “cold,” Hopkins replied, “Well, it is cold. I realized I was an alcoholic.”<\/p>\n After finding a meeting for a 12-step program, Hopkins said he heard a “deep, powerful thought” that told him, “It’s all over. Now, you can start living, and it has all been for a purpose, so don’t forget one moment of it.”<\/p>\n Anthony Hopkins also detailed what led to his decision to get sober nearly 50 years ago.
