{"id":340015,"date":"2025-10-29T05:19:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T05:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/340015\/"},"modified":"2025-10-29T05:19:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T05:19:14","slug":"fort-worth-restaurants-keep-michelin-guide-recognitions-no-new-local-spots-honored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/340015\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Worth restaurants keep Michelin Guide recognitions, no new local spots honored"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the Michelin Guide returned for its second year of spotlighting the best of Texas culinary arts, four Tarrant County restaurants <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2024\/11\/11\/michelin-guide-recognizes-fort-worth-arlington-restaurants-heres-who-made-the-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kept their recognitions<\/a> but no new Fort Worth establishments were named by the prestigious publication.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2024\/12\/04\/south-arlington-restaurant-savors-michelin-recognition-stokes-ethiopian-barbecue-fusion\/?relatedposts_hit=1&amp;relatedposts_origin=174560&amp;relatedposts_position=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smoke\u2019N Ash Tex-Ethiopian Smokehouse BBQ<\/a> in Arlington, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panthercitybbq.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Panther City BBQ<\/a> in Fort Worth\u2019s Near Southside and <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2024\/11\/13\/from-food-truck-to-fame-fort-worth-birria-restaurant-gets-michelin-guides-attention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birrieria y Taqueria Cortez<\/a> in the Polytechnic Heights neighborhood remained Michelin-recommended restaurants. <a href=\"https:\/\/goldeesbbq.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Goldee\u2019s BBQ<\/a> near Kennedale retained its Bib Gourmand award, which Michelin awards to restaurants it believes deliver great value for the money.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Fort Worth-area spots <a href=\"https:\/\/michelinmedia.com\/pages\/blog\/detail\/article\/c0\/a1433\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joined 136 other Texas restaurants recognized for culinary excellence<\/a> during the Michelin Guide Ceremony 2025 Texas Oct. 28 at Wortham Theater Center in Houston.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chris Magallanes, who co-founded Panther City BBQ in 2014, said it\u2019s a \u201cgood feeling\u201d to see the restaurant\u2019s hard work recognized for a second consecutive year. The restaurant\u2019s team hopes to receive a Bib Gourmand award or Michelin star in the future, he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really good friends with some of the restaurants that achieved that star this past year in the barbecue world and it\u2019s inspiring to us just to be included in that realm,\u201d Magallanes said Tuesday night. \u201cWe just consider ourselves barbecue guys.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Spokespeople for Smoke\u2019N Ash, Goldee\u2019s and Birrieria did not immediately respond to requests for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No Fort Worth restaurants have received a star. Statewide, 18 Michelin stars were spread between Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>Kimber Foster, spokesperson for Visit Fort Worth, said the city\u2019s tourism agency is proud to celebrate the three Cowtown restaurants that retained their Michelin status.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(Visit Fort Worth) continues to uplift Fort Worth\u2019s culinary scene through a wide range of avenues who value the spirit of our community,\u201d Foster said, citing Texas Monthly, James Beard and visitors from around the world as sources of recognition the city has received.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday night\u2019s announcement was the second in a three-year agreement between Michelin and the Texas tourism office and visitor\u2019s bureaus in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The state <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2024\/08\/06\/texas-bets-2-7-million-that-michelin-guide-will-provide-tourism-boost-to-5-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paid $450,000 annually for marketing and promotion with each of the five cities pitching in $90,000 per year<\/a>. The agreement doesn\u2019t guarantee a specific number of restaurant inclusions in the guide.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Designations are awarded based on Michelin\u2019s criteria of analyzing the quality of ingredients, harmony of flavors, mastery of techniques, consistency across the menu and over time, and if a chef\u2019s personality shines through their cuisine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>What do Michelin designations mean?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>One star: <\/strong>Restaurants used top quality ingredients where dishes with distinct flavors are prepared to a consistently high standard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two stars: <\/strong>The personality and talent of the chef are evident in their dishes. Their food is refined and inspired.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Three stars:<\/strong> The highest honor is given to chefs at the peak of their profession where their cooking is elevated to an art form and some of their dishes are destined to become classics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bib Gourmand:<\/strong> Restaurants are highlighted for their simple yet skillful cooking at an affordable price.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Green Star: <\/strong>Awarded to restaurants that are role models when it comes to sustainable gastronomy.<\/p>\n<p>Source | Michelin Guide<\/p>\n<p>Michelin expanded into North America with its guides in 2005. The prestigious publication has not recognized any two- or three-star restaurants in Texas.
