A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Neptune Township. <\/p>\n
David Leigh will have to serve at least five years before he is eligible for parole and will have to register as a sex offender, the Monmouth County Prosecutor\u2019s Office said Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Leigh, of Auburn, New York, met the then 14-year-old girl on social media in early 2023. He sexually assaulted her in April 2023 at a motel not named by prosecutors. <\/p>\n
He was arrested in January 2024, and indicted two months later.<\/p>\n
At Leigh\u2019s trial in June, the girl testified against him, revealing he knew her age when they met. Prosecutors also presented electronic and physical evidence. <\/p>\n
He was convicted after a week-long trial. <\/p>\n
