A source says they tried to make a reservation this week, and were informed by the staffer that the restaurant was closed; it\u2019s also listed as \u201cpermanently closed\u201d on <a href=\"https:\/\/share.google\/I7n6HlBA91hyQEdUH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google<\/a> and has no reservations available on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opentable.com\/r\/clover-hill-brooklyn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OpenTable<\/a>. Mitchell brought accolades to the restaurant, shepherding it onto lists like The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/dining\/best-nyc-restaurants.html?partner=slack&amp;smid=sl-share#raku\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">100 Best Restaurants<\/a> and landing <a href=\"https:\/\/guide.michelin.com\/us\/en\/new-york-state\/brooklyn\/restaurant\/clover-hill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a Michelin star<\/a>; last year, he won <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grubstreet.com\/article\/clover-hill-charlie-mitchell-james-beard-award-best-chef-new-york.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Best Chef: New York State<\/a> in the James Beard Awards. Last September, Sam Rogers \u2014 who worked at some of the world\u2019s most renowned kitchens, including Noma, Momofuku Ko, Jungsik, and Per Se \u2014 was hired to replace him.<\/p>\n<p>Salt &amp; Straw\u2019s expansion tear<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/pdx.eater.com\/2017\/5\/16\/15646978\/danny-meyers-invests-in-salt-and-straw-portland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Danny Meyer-backed<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/saltandstraw.com\/pages\/locations?location=new%20york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salt &amp; Straw<\/a>, the Portland ice-cream company founded by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek and known for its inventive, small-batch flavors, is coming to the Upper East Side at 255 East 77th Street, at Second Avenue. The roughly 1,650-square-foot shop will mark the brand\u2019s first location in the neighborhood and its latest scoop shop in NYC when it opens in spring 2027. The shop joins locations on the Upper West Side and the West Village, which<a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2024\/4\/19\/24132510\/salt-and-straw-opening-new-york-ice-cream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> opened in 2024. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>An East Village cafe closes after two decades<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">Open since 2006 at the edge of East Village and Union Square, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paradistogo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paradis to Go<\/a>, the cafe at 114 Fourth Avenue near East 12th Street, <a href=\"https:\/\/evgrieve.com\/2025\/10\/closings-paradis-to-go-on-4th-avenue.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has closed<\/a>, EV Grieve reports. Owner Kim Paradis, a French-trained chef, who opened the place with her husband, a butcher, said the landlord declined to renew her lease. Known for its house-roasted coffee, flaky pastry sandwiches, and chef-driven but affordable fare, the cafe had long been a neighborhood staple. The Hudson Yards location will remain open. (A commenter notes that <a href=\"https:\/\/a816-health.nyc.gov\/ABCEatsRestaurants\/#!\/Search\/41225183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Department of Health <\/a>closed the place on September 10 with 101 violations.)<\/p>\n<p>Another fancy Midtown omakase \u2014 but this one\u2019s a giant<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\">A giant Japanese omakase restaurant, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/26\/business\/japanese-omakase-restaurant-to-open-near-grand-central\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sora,<\/a> will open in Midtown at 60 East 42nd Street, between Park and Madison avenues, Steve Cuozzo reports in the New York Post, occupying a former First Republic Bank branch. The sprawling 14,000-square-foot project across from Le Pavilion from Daniel Boulud comes from Japan\u2019s Round 1 Corporation, known for its arcade and entertainment complexes, marking its first foray into fine dining.
