Nasdaq futures were 0.5% higher. A day earlier, all three indexes set all-time highs for a third straight session. <\/p>\n<p>Markets in Asia closed higher, lifted in part by U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s upbeat comments on relations with China and Japan as he continues his Asian tour.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia climbed another 3.8% overnight, extending Tuesday\u2019s bump and making the chipmaker the first company to <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nvidia-trillion-ai-apple-huang-trump-xi-c9bbf5cfa017dadaf248a4d197763cb9\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reach $5 trillion in market value<\/a>. The recent rally started Tuesday after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang disclosed $500 billion in chip orders. Also, according to media reports, Trump said he would discuss the company\u2019s Blackwell chips when he meets with Chinese leader Xi Jinping later this week.<\/p>\n<p>The ravenous appetite for Nvidia\u2019s chips is the main reason that the company\u2019s stock price has been soaring since 2023. Britain\u2019s FTSE 100 picked up 0.7%.<\/p>\n<p>In Asian trading, Tokyo\u2019s Nikkei 225 jumped 2.2% to a record 51,307.65. <\/p>\n<p>After a visit in Japan that culminated in $490 billion in investment commitments, <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-south-korea-apec-japan-1b90209dcda1aa72eea323fadc90b9b1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump met with South Korea\u2019s<\/a> leader on Wednesday, though a trade deal with that country appeared more elusive.<\/p>\n<p>Top officials in Washington and Seoul say the sticking point for an agreement continues to be the logistics behind Trump\u2019s demand that South Korea invest $350 billion in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Still, South Korea\u2019s Kospi rose 1.8% to 4,081.15. <\/p>\n<p>The Shanghai Composite index surged 0.7% at 4,016.33. It has been trading near decade highs ahead of Trump\u2019s expected meeting with China\u2019s Xi on the sidelines of a regional summit in South Korea. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/south-korea-trump-xi-apec-tariffs-gyeongju-2f757a6ea64284fb6bf792aba8b214fb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trump and Xi<\/a> have been locked in an <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/china-united-states-trump-xi-timeline-tariffs-adc2c2c00f13d8dcd4ecc92251b11533\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">escalating trade war<\/a>, with Washington imposing high tariffs and tightened technology controls and China retaliating with <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/china-earths-exports-trump-dad99d532f858f04d750d0b8c50e5ed6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">curbs on rare earth shipments<\/a>, one of its key sources of leverage.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that a meeting is planned suggests there is room for some progress in easing tensions, experts say. <\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s S&amp;P\/ASX 200 declined 1% to 8,926.20 after the release of higher than expected inflation data, an annual rate of 3.2%, dashed hopes for an interest rate cut anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan\u2019s Taiex gained 1.2% and India\u2019s Sensex rose 0.4%. <\/p>\n<p>In energy trading, U.S. benchmark crude oil gained 25 cents to $60.40 a barrel.
