Taylor Sheridan reportedly clashed with Paramount\u2019s new leadership before he decided to leave the studio<\/a> and sign an NBCUniversal deal reportedly worth $1 billion.<\/p>\n

According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal,<\/a> the \u201cYellowstone\u201d creator, 55, had multiple disagreements with Paramount\u2019s new CEO, David Ellison, following the company\u2019s recent merger with Skydance Media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ellison \u2014 a close ally to President Donald Trump \u2014 reportedly suggested a series tied to America\u2019s 250th anniversary next year, but Sheridan allegedly pushed back and said he didn\u2019t want want to make a show \u201ctoo politically charged.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite \u201cYellowstone\u201d being branded a conservative show, Sheridan previously told The New York Times<\/a> that he was \u201capolitical publicly\u201d and wanted to show all sides of the political spectrum.<\/p>\n

The Wall Street Journal\u2019s sources also claimed that there were disputes between Sheridan and Paramount over the budget for Sheridan\u2019s spy thriller \u201cSpecial Ops: Lioness\u201d<\/a> starring Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana. <\/p>\n

Kidman, 58, got pulled into the drama after Paramount allegedly cast the Oscar winner in a separate series, \u201cDiscretion,\u201d <\/a>without consulting Sheridan. The move allegedly created potential scheduling conflicts for Kidman, which Sheridan took as \u201ca lack of respect\u201d for his projects.<\/p>\n

Paramount also reportedly rejected one of Sheridan\u2019s film scripts, which further splintered their relationship. <\/p>\n

The Post has reached out to Paramount, Sheridan and Kidman for comment.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter <\/a>also offered insight into Sheridan\u2019s exit from Paramount, claiming that Ellison, president Jeff Shell and Paramount Pictures co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein flew to Texas after the Skydance\/Paramount merger was finalized in August to convince Sheridan he was \u201cin good hands\u201d with the new leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey thought the meeting went well,\u201d THR said. <\/p>\n

But according to the outlet, Sheridan was \u201cfrustrated\u201d with the company\u2019s film division for rejecting a feature script of his titled\u00a0\u201cCapture the Flag.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding the Kidman drama, a source told THR that Paramount planned to speak with Sheridan about her being cast in another show, but Sheridan found out about the news beforehand during a dinner with the actress.<\/p>\n

Sheridan and a crew of Paramount executives ended up having a meeting that did not end in an agreement to continue the partnership. <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cIt wasn\u2019t a bad meeting,\u201d a source close to Sheridan told THR. \u201cThey should\u2019ve come with three people \u2014 Ellison and two others and then sat down and really tried to connect with Taylor. That would\u2019ve meant a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another source claimed Ellison, 42, didn\u2019t like Sheridan\u2019s \u201ccontrolling natural.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEllison wants to run the show and he can\u2019t with Sheridan there,\u201d the insider stated.<\/p>\n

Both WSJ and THR reported that Sheridan\u2019s five-year contract with NBCUniversal is worth $1 billion. The deal allows him to start making movies for NBCU in 2026 and shows in 2029. <\/p>\n

Sheridan\u2019s contract with Paramount ends in 2028.<\/p>\n

Under the CBS flagship company, Sheridan created \u201cYellowstone,\u201d the spinoffs \u201c1923\u2033 and \u201c1883,\u201d and other hit shows including \u201cLioness,\u201d Tulsa King,\u201d\u00a0\u201cMayor of Kingstown\u201d and \u201cLandman.\u201d<\/p>\n
