Dallas<\/a> police on Wednesday were working to recover at least nine vehicles found submerged in Fish Trap Lake. <\/p>\n

Police had recovered two vehicles as of 11:30 a.m., said Dallas assistant police chief Catrina Shead. She said many of the cars are believed to have been stolen and involved in various criminal cases<\/a> such as robberies, missing persons or homicides.<\/p>\n

The operation follows an incident in June where nine vehicles were recovered from Lake Cliff Park<\/a>. Police said many cars in that case were reported stolen and possibly involved in various criminal cases<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shead said Wednesday\u2019s recovery effort is a part of operation \u201cDive into a Cleaner Dallas.\u201d She said police will be checking lakes around the city for submerged vehicles, using sonar to scan the lakes for \u201canomalies.\u201d<\/p>\n

At Fish Trap Lake on Wednesday, two police divers were seen at the lake, diving down and attaching buoys to the submerged vehicles.
